| Not a story for you, but a game. A friend & I are hosting our very first Halloween party this year for adults only. I plan to have jack-b-littles & tiny gourds hidden around the yard, each numbered. At the end of the evening, the guest with the highest total on their gourds will win a prize. We'll also play the traditional game of guessing how much candy corn is in a container...except there will be an adult treat hidden inside the candy. This will throw off the count, but also provide an extra little treat for the winner. We're also thinking of adapting the following games: Fortune Teller: Tells the future by looking into a 'crystal ball'. Tarot cards may be used, too. Merlin's Wands: Divide a large piece of cardboard in half & write YES on one half and NO on the other half. Guests stand in a circle around the cardboard holding their magic wands (sticks). One guest asks a question & everyone drops their wand. Whatever word has the most wands fall on it, is the answer to the question. Each guest asks a question. Build a Monster: Find or draw a picture of a Frankenstein type monsters body. Cut the body into pieces and lay out. What you want to do is blindfold each player, spin them around three times (like Pin The Nose on the Pumpkin) and have them pin a body part to your monster. What will happen is they will build a very funny looking monster. Make enough body parts so each child has one to put up. When they are all done, take a look at your creation! It will probably look very funny and everyone will have a good laugh! Trick or Treat Treasure Hunt. Hide creepy items, like plastic eyeballs, gummy teeth, etc. Give the kids decorated bags or plastic pumpkins to collect them. Baffling Body Parts. Fill individual bags with creepy stuff, such as sticky spiders, brains, eyeballs and other slimy things. Have the kids feel inside the bag and guess what “it” is. Skeleton Hands. Give the kids skeleton hand grabbers and have them try to retrieve Halloween treats from a black caldron. Eyeball Bounce. Have pairs stand two feet apart and bounce “eyeballs” back and forth, each time taking a step backwards. Play again with inflatable Halloween balls, but throw and catch instead of bounce. Activities Funny/Fearsome Face. Let the guests make their own masks, using foam for the face and candy or plastic eyes, noses and mouths. Cool Caramel Apples. Provide apples-on-a-stick for the guests to swirl melted caramel. Have candies and sprinkles to use for decoration. Bat the Bat. Hang up a bat piñata filled with Halloween candy and let the guests swing away. Sticky Slimy Stuff. Let the kids play with sticky spiders, insect putty, bloody slime, alien slime and other creepy concoctions. Pumpkin People. Break into teams, give each team a pumpkin and have them decorate it with craft items and creepy body parts. Hope this gives you a few additional ideas. Have fun...& happy early birthday! Sherrie |
