I love Halloween! Last year we decided to throw a Halloween party because our kids are getting old for trick or treating and I want to avoid them getting into mischief on Halloween. Not that they would of course, the little angels...

LOL
Here are some of the things we did. This party was themed for older kids so the decorations and food is more scary than you would want to do for younger ones. The kids we had at our house loved everything and have been asking if we are doing it again this year.
"Party central" was the garage
First we draped the walls with black plastic to protect my DH tools and to give the garage a dark, spooky feeling
We bought glow in the dark spray paint and painted ghoulish eyes on the plastic
We strung orange and purple lights around the room
We bought cheap plastic vampire capes and scary masks and used a staple gun to attach them to the rafters so it looked like there were monsters hiding in the attic
We set up a fog machine
I made "specimen jars" to place around the room by filling jars with water, a drop of green food coloring and a tiny bit of milk. This gives you a nice green cloudy fliud. Now add plastic bugs and stuff and you have lab specimen jars.
My DH built 2 life sized coffins that we propped in the corners with monsters inside (1 vampire, 1 mummy)
All of the food tables were draped with black lace, red velvet and white tablecloths.
We served bat wings (chicken wings), eyeballs (deviled eggs), witch fingers (cookies), baby guts (salsa), kitty litter cake, and pizza. Of course, lots of candy and punch.
We played spooky music throughout the night and had a bonfire too.
We had over 30 kids at our house that night, and I expect more than that this year!
This year I want to have a costume contest and a treasure hunt of some kind. I'm trying to come up with new "gross" food ideas too, I'm sure the kids will be expecting more of that!
Here are a couple of pics of one of the food tables:
