Hair color

I want to start coloring my hair, I'm starting to find a few grays! I don't want to get hooked on a professional service that is too expensive but I'm also too chicken to experiment much at home. I want to find a brunette color and maybe start with a semi-permanent kind that will fade after 6 weeks so I can try a different color if I don't like it. What kind of home color have you tried and might recommend to try or stay away from? Thanks, Erika Renton, WA

lol... WELL~~ Take it from me Erika! I am soon to be (Jan. 30... just 2 more days!) 43 years old. I kept finding greys so I did the semi-perm hair color. It din't last 4-6 weeks for me. So... I decided to go for the permanent hair color. I took my 18 year old daughter with me to pick out the color. I said "hmm. I think that one might be way to dark." She says.. "No Marth (thats what my daughters nicnamed me-lol) that color would be fine!"... So we went home put in in and waited... the longer we waited the darker it got! I could not believe my eyes when I washed out the color and looked in the mirror!! That was about a week ago. It was quite a shock at first but I am growing to kind of like it! BE BRAVE Erika...BE BRAVE!!! Just GO FOR IT! lol... let me know how it goes!

Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color Creme

Been using hair coloring for over twenty years. With all the nourishing conditioners with fruit oils my hair feels healthier. The colors are natural looking. It spread easily and doesn't drip. They use grape seed oil for fragrance. They have a web site where you can download your photo to see which shade looks best on you.

Sueanne~ Thank you! I think I'm going to check this one out and possibly try it! Can you tell me... How would I color over top of this shade and get the right color? I am new to this stuff!! Thanks!

Just be careful and watch your natural highlights. I have been dying my hair for awhile, but this weekend I dyed it a chocolate cherry color and it turned out a bit too purple in certain areas because of my highlights...I think that I can deal with the color for now but I need to go to someone professional next time!
