I am trying to do my own but it doesn't last. The acrylic comes off. Any tips?

YES Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT use acrylic nail product from the drug store. You must use a professional product from the beauty supply store. (Its cheaper in the long run).

Powder, acrylic nail liquid, and nail primer are KEY. Make sure your nails are sanded lightly before applying. Dust off the sand and prime. You can use the pre-formed plastic nails OR form them yourself, the latter being the most difficult.

Do not use a nail polish drier as it tends to cause lifting.

When doing fills, do it no more than every 2 weeks depending on nail outgrowth. If you get lifting, you can get nail fungus very quickly and it's very hard to get rid of.

I do my Mom's every 2 weeks so if you need anything else, let me know!

Wallyworld? Is that Walgreen's???

When she first moved here I used one from there - and it was the pits. I had to get professional "stuff". (In fact the drugstore stuff lifted and she got a fungus! That took about 2 months to get rid of. UGH!)

If you don't roughen the nail, then the acrylic won't stick - professional grade or not.

Connie - if you are in a rush, don't proceed! It takes a minute. I have done them for years so I can give her a fill with new nails and polish in less than an hour. If you have not done this before, get a nice big glass of vino and take your time. Good lighting helps too!

GOOD LUCK!

Sorry Walmart. That is what mine do they lift off. It really bothers me, so I take it off and start over. I do this about every two weeks. I will be buying some of the good stuff! I saw a kit at Sallys for $20.

I bought a gel kit for my nails. I don't know if I like it or not. I may cave and get my nails done at work. We are allowed to 'trade' with each other. I am thinking for my fingers that might be the easiest.

It is much easier having your nails done vs trying to do it yourself. I have done it. I hate doing it to myself.

If you can trade, that's awesome! Have fun and enjoy it!

I will see if anyone wants to do trades tomorrow. I won't do it until after we get the bedroom mess taken care of.

Connie if you have someone do the initial nail I bet you could do the refills yourself if no one will help you at work.
