flat iron?

What is a good flat iron? Is a wet/dry better than a dry? I know the ionic with ceramic plates is better for your hair. Do you use one? What do you like or dislike about it?

Mornin Bluebird -

I have not used one. If my hair was any straighter, it would be a ruler!

I did buy one for my step daughter and it was a dry ceramic. Mid priced, about $60 or so. She loves it! I wish I could remember the brand. I did buy it at a beauty supply store so it was not a drug store brand....

I dont know if this helps!

I did buy one! I bought a cheap one to try. My hair is straight as a ruler too. With a flat iron you can control curves, flips and such. If you blow dry your hair or sleep on it and you have a funny dip, a flat iron will fix it. My hair is stacked in the back and I like a curl to lift it. A flat iron does that. It has given me some control over a too short haircut until it grows out. My family is soooooo happy! My dh said Thank you God. He was not swearing. He was praying. Guess I really have been hard to live with. lol

Well with all you have had on your plate...I can't even imagine. Isn't it amazing how something like this CAN make you feel so much better? It truly is the little things in life that matter and this is just one of them.

God Bless you!

Connie I love my flat iron I have a natural wave to my hair and cowlicks....The flatiron straightens all them out...and like you said it is a quick fix in the morning...I have one with ceramic plates.....pricey but so worth it....the plates hold a more even heat too and last longer...they wont rust and can be cleaned of any product you may have had in your hair....

Hugs debbie

My Walmart flat iron has ceramic plates. So far I am happy with it.

My dh was told again last night that he will start doing his share and take some of the stress off me. I have been telling him he is his mothers son.... I want this so someone do it for me. That has opened his eyes .... a little bit.

I was wondering what a flat iron was! A hair straightener! LOL
I was told to make sure it had ceramic plates and a heat control or you could end up drying your hair out to much if it's to high.
I have not the cheapest but by no means the dearest and I'm happy with it

I have a cheaper one from Wallyworld. It does have ceramic plates and ajustable heat. I use a protective spray before I use it. I am happy with it and the results.

My hair is as straight as a rule too. I have a large cowlick. Maybe I should try one.

I am chuckling. When I hear the words flat iron, the first thing that comes to mind are the old irons used for ironing clothes, before there were steam irons.

Sharon, I had not heard of them called flat irons before either, just straightening irons.

A friend who grew up in the 60's, before they had flat irons, told me they used to roll their hair in empty tomato sauce cans to straighten it, LOL! I guess it would have to be long enough to do that though. I have some natural waves but one cowlick in the bang area that drives me nuts.
