It IS very annoying. My Mom has one nail that does that and it even splits her acrylic nails. I try to make that nail a little thicker than the others but that nail is going to split come He** or highwater! I hope those vitamins work for you.

I think I am going to have to try that. Mine grow slow and get brittle.

Taking a calcium supplement and also the protein in jello helps to strength nails. I can't stand the smell of acetone so don't use any of those topical treatments or nail polish.

hmmmm, prenatal vitamins for nails - never thought of that. I, too have the spliting, breaking, rough cutical thing - but noticed that when I am drinking water instead of other things, my nails are longer, stronger and smoother.

Apricot - I use acetone free polish remover. There MUST be a brand of polish that is acetone free. Let me see what I can find out. EDIT: Pristine Planet makes some. www.pristineplanet.com.

I used to always take prenatal vitamins and my hair and nails grew like mad.

CalGal, Thanks for the info. It looks like they also have odorless nail polish remover too.

I just bought a bottle of prenatal vitamins to try. I need the vitamins any way so thought I'd give them a try.
