Grocery Challenge 2009

Welcome to the Family Corner Grocery Challenge!

Grocery prices are going up and up, and we are all trying to keep our food bills DOWN!

Here's where we set a goal for our monthly budget and then track to see if we can beat that goal by spending less.

Everyone can participate! Just state your budget goal for the month, how many in your family, and what your grocery budget includes (food only, or do you also include pet food, non-food items, health & beauty, etc.)

I'm resolving this year to keep better track of my grocery expenses.

My husband wants me to stock the pantry FULL, so I am budgeting $750 for January. This will take me through the "can can sale" at the supermarket and allow me to stock up as much as possible. January has fabulous deals on canned goods in many stores.

We have a family of 5 including 2 teens. Our budget includes "health and beauty," cleaning and paper products, but not pet products, stationery or medications.

Will have to go back to $350 for the budget I don't think I can do two months back to back at $250. This includes family of 4, with 2 dogs, and I count paper, cleaning, pet food, health items.

Shopped already for January total includes Kroger & Petsmart & Angel Food Ministries $170.02

Total Budget $350
Spent $170.02
Coupons used $89.97
Store Sales $60.47
Budget balance $179.98

I need to get back to budgeting and tracking our grocery expenses. We are a family of four (2 teenagers!) and one large chocolate Lab. I include food, cleaning, pet food and health and beauty. My goal is $500.00 for the month.

I wish you all luck meeting your goals!

Drat, my budget also has to include when DH decides to invite his 3 TEENAGE cousins over here for breakfast and spends $45 on meat, specialty "egg whites" and other stuff. 3 pounds of bacon was eaten here this morning!

Remaining in the budget, $705.

LOL I feel for you Barb. My DH can eat a pound of bacon by himself so I always have to do two pounds.

LOL, there was a typo in my above message which I have now fixed. DH invested $45 into breakfast today, NOT $5....
