Grocery prices are going up and up, and we are all trying to keep our food bills DOWN!
Here's where we set a goal for our monthly budget and then track to see if we can beat that goal by spending less.
Everyone can participate! Just state your budget goal for the month, how many in your family, and what your grocery budget includes (food only, or do you also include pet food, non-food items, health & beauty, etc.)
Ok going to try and do a lot better this month. We went camping over the weekend and spent quite a bit on food, but I'm counting that toward August as it wasn't September when i spent it! LOL
We have 7 people in the house now as my FIL has moved in temporarily. So there's 3 adults and 4 kids. We include food, toiletries, pet needs, cleaning products and other household items in our grocery budget.
I am going to TRY and use last month's budget again, even though I went way over lsat month.
I have to really bite the bullet in September, which will mean more eating from the pantry and freezer and less "stocking up." This is always a tough budget month for us so I am trying to make up some savings on the food end.
I am trying for $450 this month and if I can do less
We have 5 in the family including a teen boy and a 12-year-old girl (who can eat like a teen boy, LOL!) This budget includes cleaning products, health & beauty but NOT bird seed (that's our only "pet" supply.)
I'm copying my post over so I can have the totals, grins. My family of 4 plus 2 dogs and inlaws that eat with us frequently. I include pet food, paper products and cleaning supplies in my totals.
Stopped at Aldi's & Kroger's this week $132.80 saved $104.58 but everything will be for September so adding it to that bill. Bought 6 lbs of Sirlion hamburger for $1.59 lb for the freezer was dated for today. I never had this kind before otherwise I'd have picked up a lot more.
Budget for Sept/Oct $750 available $743.34
Spent $132.80
Coupons $28.20
Sales $74.38
Balance $610.54
I have 3 in our family plus i buy extra for dh to take to work for his snacks and lunches he works away 4 days aweek so i try to send lots with him so his not stopping for fast food or snacks at conveniance stores. THis also includes all paper products and house hold items
Im going to set my goal at $500.00 for September
Am i doing this right do i need to post my spending each week?
Wow it is September already. My budget will be $600.00 again this month. I seem to do real well with that amount. We have 4 1/2 adults in our house. I only count my 20 yr old son as 1/2 becuase he really eats breakfast here every day and not alot of dinners. Then we have the 2 teenager girls and hubby and I. We have a dog and cat. I count all food, paper products, cleaning supplies, animal food, and health and beauty.
I seem to need alot of stuff this month. I looked at my list this morning. I feel a huge shopping bill coming!!!
We have both the girls birthday's this month. To save money and time we are having 1 party. They are only a year appart and have alot of the same friends. This year it includes all the "boys". Hubby isn't to happy about that idea!!!
