Just state how many are in your family, how much you plan to spend for the month, and what your budget includes (is it just food, or does it include things like cleaning supplies/paper products/pet needs/greeting cards/eating out). Then, keep track of what you spend and compare it to your plan.
Well as I posted on the April thread I had hoped for 500.00 for April but ended up spending 541.00 and some change. So I guess this month I will say my goal is 540.00. This is for my dh, ods(when he is home), yds and myself. It included health and beauty aides, otc medicines, canned dog food and cleaning products. It does not include eating out or clothing. I will be back later after I tally up my receipts from today.

OK I am going to try this. My goal is $600.00. We have 5 people in the house(3 adults and 2 teenagers). My budget includes food, paper, cleaning, health, dog and cat food. It will include the supplies for the 2 camping tirps this month. It doesn't include gas, eating out(we don't do to much) or clothing.
I will stay at $300 for my family of 4, 2 dogs, and 2 inlaws that eat with us several times a month. I include dog food, cleaning supplies, paper products, etc.
With DH out of work 4 weeks and counting shopping will be bare bones but will restock the freezer as sales happen as it is pretty low now.
Half way thru april I lost track. Darn vacation & sicknesses threw me for a loop.
I am going for $400 grocery budget with $100 household goods/paper goods budget
Today I shopped at Albertsons. I do need milk but have $6.00 in CVS EC bucks that I will use this weekend for the milk.

I got completely off track in April. I will try again this month for $500.00 for a family of four (2 teenagers!) and a 90-lb. Lab named Cocoa. My budget will include food, health/beauty, cleaning products and dog food. It doesn't include eating out, as we won't be doing that.
Good luck to all of you! With food prices rising so quickly, staying within budget will certainly be a challenge.
My budget is $550, same as last time. We have 5 in my family, 2 adults, a boy age 16, a girl age 12 and a boy age 6. No pets. Budget includes paper & cleaning supplies but not greeting cards, medications, or eating out.
FLfunmom, great job on the coupons this week! How many are in your family?
