Grocery Challenge July 2007

I am way over this month. But at least I am aware of where it is all going. I did not plan on the olive oil my dh always purchases & when he is there he buys fancy Italian pepppers in a jar. So I dropped almost $50.00 there. I love the idea of this thread. Even when I don't make it I am making conscience choices where my money goes.

I know at least for me alot of what I buy in a month doesn't get used until the next month or two.

I stock up a lot when things are on sale and I have coupons to go with it.

For example in June I bought 12 dbl roll of TP on sale with coupon that I just opened today. Did use 4 single rolls that I got through a survey so that did delay opening the package for a couple of days.

We like the Bob Evans sausage in 1 lb rolls they were on sale for 2/$5 and I had 8 coupons for $.35 which were doubled so bought 8 and put them in the freezer. Now will take us 2-3 months to use it all but I'm stocked up until I get more coupons to match with a sale.

I feel the same way about this thread. I know I'm a little over this month, but this has made me aware of where it's going. I know I'm spending a lot, but we're pretty good about not wasting food and we don't eat out at all, so this is the full food budget.

I totally agree. Since we just relocated, our pantry was at an all time low and our freezer was empty. In the past two months, I've restocked the pantry and freezer pretty much, so we're set there.

I had a big shop at Giant on Saturday, almost every item on the receipt showed a discount, so I'm pleased at that. They had many good BOGO offers and lots of sales on things we use, so I was able to stock up quite a bit.

I lost track with all the hospital stuff this month. I know I went over but like everyone else, I am watching what I spend and know where it is going.

I am also trying to keep our grocery shopping within a budget,but it is so hard with prices going up.I use coupons,I am a coupon fanatic,but I still seem to be going over budget.I have been doing better about not wasting and using everything up.

As of today I am over by $10.91.

Next month I will have to budget higher since I already know DH is planning a big brunch for at least 20 people.
