I'm thinking about getting a Remoska so I won't have to power up my oven

I have a small house that gets very hot in the summer. Last year I bought an air conditioner and used a very old one that probably cost me more than to use it. I mistakenly poured out the freon from the new one so I am currently just using fans and trying to keep the door open when home but there's gonna come a time that I won't be able to do that...like late July/August.

One thing I was happy about last year was the fact that I could cook in my kitchen including turning on the oven without sweating to death. I ended up with a very high light/gas/water bill last year. I don't want to repeat that plus I am trying to be more green. So, I am thinking about buying a Remoska so that I can cook indoors on days that I don't want to use my firepit grill, which I plan on using more this year than last...we used it a total of three times last year. I also have a table top grill. It's on for less than 15 minutes, the food is done and I haven't wasted too much electricity and didn't use the oven.

Has anyone else heard of Remoska? I think it's an excellent product and I am hoping to get one very soon...as soon as I don't need the extra money....in a few weeks to get this product...If you're not familiar, here's a link...http://www.hoorayforhomecooking.co.uk/

It's sold exclusively by Lakeland...there link is...http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!2511

I use a roaster oven for summer so that I don't have to power up my oven. You can get the GE kind at Walmart for about $40. Mine is a Nesco, which is more heavy-duty than the GE (I've had both kinds) but either one would serve the purpose.

With a roaster oven you can use it as a mini-oven and also use it to make large quantities of soups, spaghetti sauce, and to hold foods hot for a party or buffet.

I don't know the cost comparison for the item you are buying but if you have to have it shipped from the UK, that could get pricey!

I have one...I got it for free brand-new. It's a Hamilton Beach. My mom's doctor was giving them away. So, its the same thing basically? Yeah, the cost of shipping would bring it to a total of $133, which I thought was reasonable for the fact that we wouldn't have to turn on the oven. I never even thought about using the roaster oven cause its out of sight-out of mind, I just know I have one.

Skip that Remoska and just use your roaster oven. You can't do better than free!!

There is a fabulous Yahoo group that shares recipes and tips for roaster ovens. It is called NescoRoasting but you don't have to have a Nesco brand to use the recipes and tips. The only difference is that your brand does not come with the convection fan feature. Everything else will work exactly the same way.

You can even bake bread in a roaster oven! You might have to tweak baking times & temps since sometimes the thermostats are a little "off" but once you figure yours out, you'll be all set.

Great info! This reminded me that I had a George Foreman Contact Roasting machine. I sed it to make my meatballs in yesterday. It is not big enough though, and I had to do the meatballs in batches. Howeve, it didn't heat the kitchen up at all.

Thanks for the info on the Nesco. I am going to Walmart tomorrow and I am going to price them.
