Green Bags/Recycling: Dealing with Rude Cashiers/Stores
Has anyone had a problem when trying to either use their green bags or to recycle something?
I just went to Walmart quite aware of walmart having their own canvas bags, I of course brought my own and had the rudest person on earth bag my groceries. She smacked her lips, rolled her eyes and slammed our food into the bags, shaking her head like it was such a hassle to put it into our green bags vs. the plastic...it's still putting it into a BAG! And I even told Lea, look see this is Walmart's version...pointing to theirs. She was so rude I almost asked for the manager until I noticed her badge...she WAS the manager! Ugh, I nearly said something but I didn't. It was just ridiculous that she would act like that.
Patrice, that is too bad. This woman obviously should not be in customer service! What difference does it make what kind of bag she puts the groceries in? I suspect she was mad that she was working on the register at all. My past experience as a cashier is that the managers try to avoid helping out on register at all costs - lol!
Yeah, she was something else. I have a temper so I came real close to 'going off on her' but when I saw she was the manager, I saw that there wasn't much that would happen but a scene.
One of my children works at our local Walmart in the instock dept. He talks about how bad the managers are at his store all the time. It is a shame that she had to act like that. I agree with Kathy the lady didn't want to work on the register and was takening her agrevation out on you. Don't take it personal.
Patrice, sounds like it was maybe just a person with a problem. I have not had any negative attitudes when I have used the green bags or even when I have exchanged something and I have told them to just reuse the bag I brought it in. However, I do not usually go to Walmart, a lot due to how they do treat their custumers and employees.

Patricia, WM has alot of managers..but you need to report this rude manager to the head store manager. I am sure this rude report will go into their file, and it might hinge on them receiving a raise or not..or even a transfer. You might even look online and see if you can do it online...if you look on an old receipt you will find a store # and you can report that store.
Sometimes people in a "power position" let it go to their heads.
Yes, I have had the same thing happen to me at Meijer, one of my favorite stores. They, too, have their own bags(recently). This not one of the managers but a cashier that refused to bag my groceries when I said I had my own bags. She kept putting them on the bag stand & then got impatient waiting for me to pay while I finished putting all the groceries in my bags. Meijer has surveys on their receipts so I did one right after that & commented on this. I haven't received a reply, but the cashiers now put the groceries in the bags as I hold them open so maybe it helped. Like you said , they have to put them in a bag so what's the difference??
I go to Aldi so I don't have a problem bagging my own, it was her attitude!! Like she couldn't be bothered with my bags. And getting mad because I wasn't ready to pay when she was done scanning the stuff!! GRRR....

I make sure that I have my green bags for groceries up the front of my grocery pile so it's obvious, and I don't care if they don't like them I just ignore their hurrumphs! I have also repacked a bag or two, I have 8 bags and they pack all in the first 4 and I can't lift them, so I stand a repack before I pay so they have to wait for me to fix their bad packing.
With other stores where you only buy 1 or 2 things I always say, I have my own bag to put them in before they start to scan items, and even then they sometiems automatically pack them in plastic, and I ask them politely if I can have them in my bag I bentioned at the beginning MOST are pretty good here.
I havent had and my DS says that he hasnt had any trouble like that so-far every one seems very plesant about it. At on store thay even have a place to recycle your used plastic bags.

I talked to my sister who works a second job at Walmart, she too told me to report this woman. Yes, I'll look into it online. I hope not to have this problem again.
She packed my stuff to the point I couldn't lift it either. SHe was so rude...ugh, she's still making me mad just thinking about it. I go to the fruit market on Monday, and I'll be taking my bags, hopefully they won't have a problem.
