Plastic Recycled Mulch

Has anyone tried this in their flower beds? It seems like a good idea instead of using regular mulch in that it would last longer. Has anyone used it and if so, did it work as well as wood mulch, any unusual problems with it?

I won't use it. I am getting very wary of plastics. The regular mulch breaking down is natural. This year we are using plain ole peat moss. It is much cheaper than mulch.

I agree with Connie. I wouldn't like the thought of plastic leaching into my plants, especially veggies(eating plastic...yuk). I like using natural products.

We tried it once and the weeds grew right through the plastic.

Thanks everyone

Sorry I am slow in responding, I am one of the members here who isn't receiving notices so I haven't seen these post. We ended up buying Scotts Brand Mulch the black kind. I actually looked at Lowes for this mulch but couldn't find it. Interesting about the weeds, very glad I didn't buy it.

I've not heard of the plastic mulch.

I have heard of playgounds using the shredded tires as mulch around the equipment which I think would be better then wood mulch as it should give more when landed on it.

I saw it at the state fair conservation center a few years back but dh is the one who actually heard about it on the radio.
