perennial or weed?

I think that it is a Phlox, too. I went to the online Park Seed catalog (my favorite) and it certainly looks like Phlox to me!!

I too have several different shades of pink phlox, none like that. and white. I love them! They smell so nice, especially in the evening. It is too bad you can't send some over the internet to share.

I love this flower but not as well as I love Irises ! They both have the habit of not staying exclusively where they were originally planted; especially perennials that reseed themselves else where or, like Irises, spread with their root system.
I am not one to say get rid of weeds - I love all the clover, dandelions, wild strawberry, milkweed, sheepsour, wild violets, and others I have in my yard ! The butterflies just go wild!

My favorite are lilies. But I like all flowers. I have some sunflowers coming up in the pots on my patio mixed with the geraniums that come from the birdfeeder. I agree, most of the native plants are what the butterflies like, so let them come!

Amanda, they don't look like a weed to me. Looks like phlox. Phlox comes in many different colors and I believe it also spreads.

My red phlox keeps getting bigger around but doesn't come up anywhere else in the bed. The Lupines and Black Eyed Susans come up all over the place. As do the Cone Flowers.

I think a "plamt" is anything you like the look of that doesn't harm your other plants.. I LIKE the dandilions, wild violets, sweet william and other "weeds" in my yard.. People tell me that these are just weeds, but one woman's weed is another's pleasure.

And Yes, it looks like a phlox to me too
