Pollen!!

Pine and Oak tree pollen counts are sky high already here in NC. My poor head is killing me! Does this bother anyone else? It's supposed to rain today...I can't wait!!

I'm feeling it too! And all the Easter flowers that are around do NOT help. I think that's why I lost my voice in the middle of church on Easter Sunday.

Oh no!

I hate that it has been so warm and breezy here but I can't open the windows! I hate the thought of turning on the AC but it gets so stuffy in here when it's over 75* outside.

Is there a good "safe" time during the day to open the windows?

I'm the wrong person to ask. I insist on hanging clothes on the line, pollen or no.

Tami and Barb I feel for you both.....our area has not started yet but it will be soon....Birch and beech trees are my worst enemies and they both thrive here. I can not have the windows open at all here in spring...I can see the yellow pollen on my tables. It gets so bad we can write our names on our vehicles . I can not hang my clothes out or I am in serious trouble........my allergist told me we are the worst area in Canada for asthma and allergies...meaning we have the highest amount of patients with both. And I had to live here!!!!!!

I thank God that the pollen doesn't bother me-usually, although most everyone else at home is sneezing all the time. I was kind of shocked last week when I realized that my van wasn't 'dirty' it was pollen all over it. Even with the warm weather I really hadn't been looking for the pollen yet.
It has rained here since last night so will help the fires in the area and keep the pollen out of the air for awhile.

We get pollen even in Florida from Oak trees. The pollen was very bad this year especially without rain. Everyone has been taking trees down too much work for older folks raking leaves. Glad it is over for now.

We took our car to the car wash 2 days ago because it was completely covered with pollen.

We did get a little rain today. It was cold here today...on got to 50* but it will be creeping back up again and by the end of the week it's supposed to be in the high 70s.

ds1 has pollen allergies, it's from the native trees, of melalucca, gum tree and bottle brush flowers. They are good hardy trees being natives so they plant them around schools and sides of the roads (we've had to wind up windows driving past some bush areas at certin times of the year).
ds1 primary school was chokkas with melauca trees and most notably outside his classroom (these are spread out single story) as it warmed up it blew straight into the classrooms, some days were worse than others and I'd be called up to sick bay as he'd have the runny nose watery eyes and ..... he's ended up with 2 whole weeks over the year off school, and not all tablets would work and you couldn't always pick the bad days. He is also allergic to a type of grass (most lawns here) seed so sport was fun LOL ... and chlorine from pools sets it off as well.

You either have asthma or allergies. ds2 has the asthma and ds1 has the allergies and I got the eczema which is also related (don't ask me how but it's documented) and all are hereditary.

I was told for pollens to see if you can buy very local honey. Slowly introduce that honey each day and it will eventually make you less alergic or cure you, but no local honey I could find in this area.

Kathy you are right about the honey and it has to be from the area you live as it carries the pollens that affect you. You eat and build up an immunity to them.
