started my seeds today

It seems odd, planting stuff when it's so yucky outside! But I should have done it a few weeks ago, so I did it today while ds1 was at school and ds2 was napping. I took a walk around my yard yesterday and saw that my crocuses are starting to bloom so I knew I couldn't put it off any longer. I even have a seperate tray for my next plantings for a fall harvest.

All right!! Spring is coming!

I hope too get my seeds started in the next few days. I need too get a few more starter trays first!
But, they are calling for 6-12 inches of snow today and tomorrow!
This will be my first gardening attempt!

Well, we're not expecting 6-12 inces, but snow is in the forecast! It's crazy--hardly any snow all winter, and now that it's spring.....

But, my flowers are peeking out through the little bit of snow we got last night, so I know it's only temporary.

This is my first attempt at a "full" garden--last year I had tomatoes, cukes, bell peppers and jalapenos, and they all did well, so I'm hoping this year to be able to grow all kinds of veggies--will make a big dent in the grocery bill!

Well I'm new to gardening we live in an apartment and last had some pretty lousy attempts. I am planning on starting some apple trees. We are looking for a house and I figure they take long enough to grow, why not start. Anyone got any pointers on soil and food to use?

What I did whwn that happened was just take off the plastic lid and use a fork to "rake" the soil after clearing off the mold. I left the top off and just water them daily--it seems to be working with no adverse effects.

Thank you i'll try that and see how it goes. I wasn't sure if the mold would be a bad thing or not.

Well, it's not a good thing lol. But if you can catch it and get rid of it before it "takes over" it should be okay. If it gets out of control it will kill your seeds and sprouts, as well as just being gross.
