Craft Shows

Does anyone know how you can find out information about local craft shows? I have things that I have made, but I have only been able to set up tables at local fall festivals.

Thanks,

I do crafts shows and generally most of them are from October through December, occassionally you'll see one around Easter though rarely.

Most crafts shows are small...churches, organizations and high schools and they don't really advertise. You need to look for signs in front of these places saying looking for crafters, ask your family and friends if they have went to a craft show when and where. If it's a church, look up the phone number and ask if they have a craft show and who to contact for more information. Here in Columbus rental space ranges from $30 to $150 depending on how big it is.

Thanks Anna,

I will look around, I know that we have a few shops that will sell your stuff for you, but they ask for 10% of your sales for selling your items.

That's pretty reasonable... the store we sell through we pay rent and commision fee's I think the commision is 7%. so if you can sell in a store for just 10% and no rental fee's that's very good. One store I checked into here wanted 40%, it was crazy high.

Craft Shows

I go to craft shows all year round. I also sell at our local Farmer's Market 1 - 2 days a week. Try checking your town's website and add events to the search (ie.google search for... Paso Robles, CA main street events) - also ask at the farmer's market if they know of any craft shows... My first show of the year will probably be in May - an Iris festival - lots of fun and always make good money too. I am pretty busy as I will also be selling at our county fair this year - $1800 for the 12 day fair, but will bring big returns... You might also check craigslist too under events... Perhaps checking at your local fabic stores might find some shows too...

The farmer's market here has a few people selling crafts during the warmer months. Some people here go in with someone who is having a garage/yard sale and combine them with craft sales.

Apricot - cute name... There's a problem when you have your crafts by yard sale items - people want to pay yard sale prices for your things...

Here they usually set the crafts up in a somewhat separate area. I don't mind paying more for good quality homemade craft items that are across the yard from yard sale items.

Good for you - doesn't work here... I went to a show that combined crafts with yard sale items for the first tme - had don3e well for years, but this year, they had the yard sale mentality and would ask if I would take less. Unless they change it back to the original format, the crafters won't be back - too bad as it was a fundraiser for a local library.
