Anyone Like Gardening?

I always liked to garden. It is a great way to keep in shape & get fresh air in your lungs. The only thing I hate is cleaning everything out after everything has stopped growing. Right now all my tomatoes are gone. Just a couple of pepper & eggplants left. The eggplants were delicious fresh no seed in them and sweet. Cannot eat hot peppers no matter how I try. Just put a little piece with the rest to give it flavor.

l love flowers too. Have alot of Roses all different colors. Like to cut them and put them in a vase. My fruit trees are still producing plenty of Grapefruits & Oranges. Have a nice Fig tree but to much rain leaves starting falling already. Here in Florida there is longer growing season. Just have to choose what you want in the smaller space you have here. What do you girls like to plant?

Sueanne, your garden is beautiful!!!

I like gardening, but have limited space. I am doing some container gardening. I have your basic flowers and a few vegetable plants. I enjoy planting from seeds, 'cause I love to watch them grow!!

Your roses are beautiful! I love to garden. We have a pretty big spot - this year we planted corn, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, muskmelon, and pumpkins. They are going crazy. Next year I've got to cut back - don't know what to do with everything (I've been canning and giving stuff away like crazy). We have about 30 pumpkins on our plants. I don't know what to do with them. I think after giving them to all family I'll see if the boys want to try selling them.

I love flowers but I don't have much experience or time but I'm doing a little each year. I have a butterfly bush that is huge and gorgeous and I planted it right outside my bedroom window so I can see it.

Then if I don't have time, I don't have the money to landscape like I want to so I'm just doing a little each year.

Have fun

Cindy

Beautiful Garden

Yes, the roses are beautiful. Only one of my bushes did anything this year. I have several scattered around the yard.

I have a flower box that I like to put bulbs in so I don't have to keep planting every year. All I have to add are a few impatients here and there and viola, its done.

In the garden we plant cantalope, corn, potatoes , green beans and onions. My son grows all the tomatoes. Yesterday we canned salsa and spaghetti sauce. First time for both receipes so I hope they turn out ok.

I love to work with the dirt and I really like to pull weeds. I give them the names of the ppl that are annoying me.

Gardening

My husband and I love to garden together. We started about 4 years ago planting grapes, blackberries, red raspberries, goldenberries and purple berries. We also grow tomatos, jalopeano peppers, green peppers and banana peppers. I love making salsa. I have made blackberrie jelly and syrup. I have frozen some of my other berries this year and will do more jams and jellies this winter. We also do cucumbers, peas and zucchini, yellow squash and hubbard squash. We also have a small orchard that we planted last year. I will get about 5 apples off of our one tree. I love going out and picking all of this. We also have an herb garden that we planted about 4 years ago too. I love drying my own herbs. I make sachets then but my herbs in them and they keep our dressers nice smelling.
Last year we planted rose of sharon around our front yard for a natural looking fence and wow we really like it. So this year we finished the rest of the yard. Everyone says it looks great. We also had started a butterfly/humming bird garden last year so we are finishing it off with a couple more butterfly bushes and periennals. It is alot of fun I wished I could show you a picture. Our next door neighbor liked the rose of sharon so much when we ordered some for us we ordered her some and planted it the same time. It will look even better next year. I have over 100 bulbs coming to plant this winter. We try to plant things that will come up each year so we don't have to keep replanting. We had some of the wave petunias and I love them. I will plant those each year.
All of your gardens sound really good. We are already planning our garden for next year. We will be starting seeds this next year in our basement.
You all have a nice day, And happy gardening.

I love to garden.... that is "my time".....I love the peace and quite, the birds singing. The morning sun coming through the break in the branches, what could be more lovely?
My favorite things to plant are hostas, roses, peonies, and of course veggies.
My favorite veggies are tomatoes, lettuce, corn, banana peppers, and squash....... the more the merrier!

Gardens

Tootsweet, 20 acres. Oh my goodness. How wonderful. I assume you get to start from scratch. Way cool. You get to landscape. I'd be like a kid in a candy shop. I've only got 2 lots to work with and we have a house and 2 garages on it. Gonna have to tear down one of the garages so I'll have more room.

Chloe. OK how do you get your hubby to help? It's like pulling teeth to get him (my hubby) to help plant it and once it's planted he disappears all summer. Trust me, some of the weeds has his name connected to them.

nmygarden2000, I've never tried to grow squash let alone try to fix it. What kind do you grow and how do you cook it? I've grown zuchinni in the past but only used it to make bread and cookies. Help?

Gardening

Hello to Ladyinmaille and to TootSweet,
Well how I get my husband to garden is he likes to. I think he gets satisfaction out of doing it. Plus he loves my jams and jellies. As for my recipes it is real easy. The blackberry jelly is 3 1/2 cups of juice and 5 cups of sugar and a box of pectin. You put the juice and the pectin in and let come to a rolling boil then put the sugar in and let it come to another boil that won't stir down and put in your sterilized jars and can. It is that easy. The salsa is I just add what I want and even some honey. Wow that was real good. It is tomatos, peppers, celantro(this is what makes it so good). Then just warm it up and put in sterilized jars and can. It is that simple. As for the squash i usually presure cooker that and then freeze. Then when I want to make a pie I just take it out of the freezer. I forgot to tell you to we have strawberries and gooseberries and elderberries. I have just made some jelly with the elderberries. I haven't tasted it yet but I'll let you know. I do love going out and looking at our butterfly garden. We have had so many different butterflies that I told my husband we need to get a book and look them up. If you have anymore questions just ask. I love talking about gardening and anything to do with plants. I also have a house full of plants. My husband says we have the cleanest air in any house. Yes I have that many house plants.
Happy gardening!!
