I know.. Little ones say the cutest things!! I remember when DD#2 was about 3 Y/O and we were driving on the hgwy, we passed a flatbed truck piled high with flattened cars going to the recycling plant...
When dd asked about this, I told her that the metal from the cars was going to be used to make new cars..and that the recycling plant also takes the plastic we put out each week to make new bottles, etc.
I chatted on about recycling as we drove along.
When we pulled into the parking lot of our neighborhood grocery before going home, we parked under a small tree.
Upon exiting the car, my DD started jumping up and down excitedly and pointing to the tree..
"Mommy mommy!! Look!!! We here!!" she shouted.. I was dismayed.. We'd been to this grocery without this kind of reaction many times..
"We here Mommy! And we park under the "RECYCLING PLANT!!" What else will grow?
Confused, I looked up into the tree, and low and behold, in the branches of the tree were dozens of plastic grocery bags, twisted into the limbs by the wind... My dd's visual image of the word recycling "Plant" was an organic thing!!
All through that discussion in the car, she ws invisioning some big tree eating our trash and sprpoting newly manufactured items as it's fruit!
Oh!! The things our kids think.. A rare glimpse into the brain of a three year old was my G-d gift that day. And I'll never, Ever forget the joy it gave me.
