Winter comforts

What are some things that you do in winter to give comfort to you & your family? Any special foods or beverages? Special places to cuddle? Special afghans or quilts? Anything you do in the winter?

My dh & I have been making cocoa in the evenings and mixing in the flavored creamers into it - we like the peppermint mocha and ---cuddling together on the love seat for a movie.

Keep warm

Pippe

I make different dinners in the winter - things like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, soups and stews, baked chicken etc. We also drink coffee and cocoa and flavored teas. Often we eat dinner by candlelight - it makes the kitchen seem warmer and homier.

This year, I finally got an electric blanket from Santa. Man, do I love it! We had a snow day when my son was home from school. Before we went out to play in the snow, we turned the blanket on & put a dry pair of pants & socks under the cover. Then when we got inside from playing we got our dry things on & crawled under the cover & read. That was lots of fun!

Wintertime to my family means comfort foods and reading books under lots of covers.

A cozy fire in the wood stove. I hate it when my sister makes a nice fire for me over my lunch coz then we are chatting, watching the babies drinking coffee by the fire...WHO WANTS TO GO BACK TO WORK ?????

I have been crocheting in my room which is where the wood stove is.
I love coffee but usually want something sweet like doughnuts and it all goes to my deriair.. (did I spell that right?) :P

All of the things y'all do sound so nice.

We drink more hot tea & hot chocolate. I make more soups & hot sandwiches. All 5 of us climb into my king size bed to watch movies. The children & I play more board games. We burn more leaves & branches as well. That's all I can think of for now.

Don't forget to vote if it relates to you.

Maybe I'll see you on the HUGS thread.

TTFN,
Shelley

I tend to do more hand work - knitting, sewing, quilting in the winter. Keeps me warmer & my hands busy so I can't easily snack, LOL.

The two cats tend to cuddle up around us on the couch & at night. (Sometimes too much so!)

One thing I really like is coming home to a hot soup or pot of chili in the crockpot.
