1 can French style green beans
1 cup chopped celery
1 green pepper chopped
1 can diced carrots
1 can LeSeur peas
1 onion sliced
1 can Shoe Peg corn *can use other corn if can't find this one
1 can bean sprouts
1 small can pimento - chopped
1 can sliced water chestnuts
Drain all vegetables and put in large bowl. Good to put in a bowl with top to store in fridge. (I use my large pot)
Bring the following to a rolling boil and pour over vegetables:
1 ½ cup white sugar
1 cup white vinegar
½ cup water
1 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
Dash Tabasco (optional)
Toss vegetables, cover and store in refrigerator overnight. The longer it sits (2 or 3 days) the better it tastes. I usually toss vegetables once a day. This will serve 15-20 average appetites -- fewer if 15-18 year old athletes.
Yummy, amazing how it sounds like it wouldn't be good, but try it and you will be pleasantly surprised, everybody loves this one!!!
