I pulled the last two small stuffed animals out of the gift box for the two parties that dd2 is going to tomorrow. Added a book and lip balm to the animal in a gift bag for each gift. Will have to be on the look out for more clearanced items to add to the gift box to have on hand. The last month has wiped out the box as the kids have gone to 5 parties.

The wedding we attended went very well and the decorations were lovely.

Got bad news on the van headlight seems to be the holder and electrical module for $900.... guess I wont be driving after dark for awhile which is 5:00 now grrrrr. They did get the recall done and fixed the sliding door locks will owe about $200 for diagnosis and fix when I pick it up tomorrow.

Good Evening Everyone

I'm glad to hear everyone had a good holiday. Lisa, dh is like that with his computer online games and it's very annoying... he doesn't want to talk at all while he's on there.

It's been a exhausting day as we moved into the new store at 9am this morning in the snow!! Groovy! and where we had to park our truck, theres a overhanging roof and it was dripping water onto the bookcase as we loaded it onto the dolly, well poor dh when he tipped it back all that water that had been collecting on top of the bookcase came pouring down onto his face and the front of his sweatshirt, he got drenched in a very short minute so he had to go through the whole store wet, my poor guy! And with all the little nooks and cranny's in the store, we literally felt like a bull in a china shop as we wheeled that 6 foot bookcase through the store with a store employee in front going Whoa! LOL! We got it in though and packed but need to go back tommorow as we couldn't fit everything into the truck. The store was absolutely packed to the gills. They were giving out free doughnuts and coffee which was a very nice touch. Lots of effort to make their customers feel welcome. One customer I met in the bathroom was telling me about a Midnight Madness sale they had Oct. 31st and there was a standing line of 45 minutes just to get in the store, Wow! I hope tommorow when we go back we have had some sales. We only get paid once a month there so any sales over the next couple days will be the only money we make till January 3rd other than whatever small sales we make in Logan, not very optimistic about that one.

Wow Roberta

$900 for a headlight? That is major expensive.

This evening dh is napping problably will get up shortly, we need to cut up soap in the morning and package for the store trip along with retagging our sports keychains, getting buckeye necklaces tagged, etc.

I guess I better go as dh will be getting up shortly and wanting to play on the computer.

Glad you all had a lovely holiday. We did too. Busy at home today - did not leave. All meals from home.
Hope you have a great and restful weekend.

Not typing much, as longer posts have been lost 5 times since last night.

Roberta, I'd get a 2nd opinion, maybe someone who won't charge $200 to diagnose! That's horrendous!

Anna, ds hasn't been over at all to go on the computer today. He called to get permission to come by and pick something up. I am not staying mad at him just have put the no games on the computer moratorium in place. He was calmer when I talked to him as normal. Sometimes I just have to crack the whip.

The tree is up and lit but not decorated, the girls can't get their acts together so the decorations are sitting in their boxes in the corner of the living room. If they don't get it done tonight I'll do it in the morning! I can tell they are getting older and not as interested as they used to be in the decorating part, sigh.

Supper was leftovers, in fact all day we've snacked on leftovers. I was bad and snacked too much on the pumpkin pie, now it's gone. Good, then I can't keep snacking on it!

I'll get off of here now, do the last of the supper dishes. My brother and his gf are in from Chicago, just them. I love when he's here!

Hugs,
Lisa

Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

Hey Meg, long time no see! That was some frugal deal!

The turkey was worth every single penny. It was fresh and it was free range and to make me even happier, it was grown in Pennsylvania. Can't quite remember the town, something like Orenia or Ero, ...I don't know , I can google it later. I even tried to ruin the turkey, not on purpose. But it was supposed to be a five hour cook time, at 3.5 hours, dd1 had to go in to work to check on an experiment, and I had a couple small things to grab at the store (grandpa's favorite frozen yogurt for the pie (no more dairy for him )). Got back in time but the breast had separated from the keel bone. Thankfully it was in the roaster so the meat did not dry out.

When I plated the slices up for the table, I put a bed of gravy down first and then a drizzle on top, so that helped the white meat. The legs on it were as big as the breast and very very dark meat, light flavor though. I will do it again.

The pies tasted great! But the color was not orange but a pale tan instead. Still in all, it was the best dinner in a long time. DH came in later that night, after I'd gotten back from chekcing on a dog we are taking care of, and gave me a special hug and said, I don't know how you do it, but everything tasted so great and the table setting was so nice and gave me a kiss not expecgting anything in return!

The major expense is the electrical module but I plan to call around on Monday to get estimates and maybe even on getting a used part. Not to many places give free estimates and they did get the doors fixed (supposedly) for the $200.

Been eating leftovers today and watching tv shows that we had recorded.

Dh said No way should it cost that much money and you certainly would be wise and frugal to shop around... even order the part online and check if they will install a part like that. Something I've found out recently with our friend working for O'Reillys is every auto repair shop gets a rebate check when they buy from places like Auto Zone, Napa, etc. so they use those places instead of shopping around and also they mark the price extremely higher than what they paid for it as we found out when we had work done on the Caddy... they weren't real hip about us purchasing our own part from another dealer (no rebate and no markup for them) but they were nice enough to allow it though offerred no guarantee on the part.

LoriMae

We were thinking alike today... we passed the animal shelter where we got Angel today on our way home and almost convinced ourselfs to stop and look for another puppy, dh even looked online last night at Pet Finders.com we want another German Shephard as Katie is almost 11 now and though it's going to break our heart, she doesn't have many doggy years left we'd. like to get another puppy for her to start training while she's still young enough to do it. But on the frugal side of the coin, more vet bills, more shoe chewing, accidents, etc. so we're still on the fence about this one.

Roberta is there any junk yards around you that you can buy the part from. My dh does that all the time. Some of the local small garages will put your parts on for you. It saves the mark up $ that put on parts.

I have the laundry going in cold water. I am using the dryer. To cold and muddy to hang wash on the line. Will make some turkey salad for lunch. Not sure I might make turkey tacos for dinner. See how brave the family is for that new dish!!

Not much else going on here. Probably won't go any where today. Dh is still recoping from his surgery.

Good morning, friends! I am loving this being off from work! I am going to have a really hard time going back on Monday.

I had a totally lazy day yesterday and loved it. Today will be a productive one, though. I plan on getting Christmas up. DH will put up the tree and string the lights. Both dds are off from work so we'll see if they get it decorated. Lisa, I know what you mean by them losing interest in the decorating. They both enjoy making gingerbread houses still, though!

Anna, I wish you the best of luck in the new store. Poor David getting all wet yesterday.

Ellen, don't you love feeling appreciated! Your dinner sounded delicious. I'm glad you and your family enjoyed it so much.

happymomof4, hope your dh gets to feeling better soon.

Today's frugal will be putting some of the Thanksgiving leftovers in the freezer and making a big pot of turkey noodle soup. My family are not big soup eaters, but I can bring it for lunch all week.

Hoping to get a little online shopping done today. I have my list written up and will not stray from it.

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

Kathy

Picked up the van this morning boy have I missed the side doors opening the first time you unlock it. I have the codes now and a break down for the headlight repair so will call around on Monday to get prices elsewhere. I will check the junk yards but the last time I looked for a part the van was to new.

Will have turkey sandwiches today then freeze what is left for DH to take for lunches and to make soup. I have a quart of stock from the carcass that I'll add to the soup.

I'm going to attempt some decluttering today while dd2 is at the two birthday parties though I'll have to keep an eye on the clock to pick up and drop off.
