I wish I had the physical ability to have a garden but also don't have the space . I am going to try this summer to have cherry tomatoes in a large pot I have. Hope it works

I love watching plants grow. It is so relaxing to work in the dirt in the garden on a nice sunny day with a breeze. So far my tomatoes are growing healthy and have blosoms. I think the gravel in the soil radiates heat at night and it is close to the house so it is protected. My spaghetti squash popped up where I planted the seeds from a squash I bought. I always plant flowers in my garden so the bees pollinate the buds. Breaking a branch from a bush serves as a marker for the rows. The branches flower making it look more like a flower garden than a vegetable.

Sueanne, I had heard lady bugs help with aphids and other pests and that planting marigolds also helps keep some pests out of a vegetable garden.

I couldn't have said it better Sueanne! I love watching the bees too. Did you know we have lost a third of our bee population in the last few years? I think the artilce was in Mother Earth News.

Patti, we planted a patio tomato plant in a pot last summer. It did well.

Connie, it is called Colony Collapse Disorder. They really don't know what has caused it,possibly pesticides. It is scary since so many of out foods are pollinated by the bees.

I always plant marigolds in between my tomatoe & bell pepper plants to encourage the bees and repell other pests.
