When offering I try to work with them to pick up within a couple of days but do make exceptions in some cases like last week when a lady's 12-year-old locked her keys inside her van, so I gave her an extra day. Sometimes people will say they want something picked up that day and it doesn't get posted by the moderator until the next day, so that doesn't work.
I have gotten a couple of useful things this past year, once it was some wood pant/skirt hangers. It was a second pass through freecycle and some were broken but about half were still good and I'm using those. I also got some Avon boxes that are good for stacking things in the closets.

I use Freecycle regularly. Sometimes it is frustrating because people don't pick up as quickly as I want. The "stuff" didn't bother me that much until I decided I wanted it gone.
