goodness, well I think I would have another one with me too.

I am very thankful for where we live, I can leave things out, with gates open and not worry if something will happen or not...
but have lived in the big city where you have to be careful...

having your husband or some man around would be the best after reading your post...

thanks for explaining, but you didn't have to... as I've known people even in small safe areas like to have anaother one around..

again I'm blessed to where I am... the only thing I can get my arm talked off and I'm thinking.... " don't you have something else any better to be here than here talking my arm off"
like my last one this guy talked and talked and talked, and I had no idea what he was talking about... all of it was over my head about engines, nuts/bolts, cars... etc.... but I sat and listened
and went hmmmmm, Oh I see....., Oh really,...... mmmmm mmmmm,
but he just seemed so lonely...

whenever you have it. I do hope you make lots of money and do good with it.

Anna...

Isn't it sad that things like that happen?
Too bad we don't have alot more respect for each other~

I also hope to have a yard sale... but it will be more toward fall I suspect

Yes, when you are counting your blessings be thankful for living in a smaller community with honest people. I'm not saying Columbus doesn't have more than a good fair share of honest, hardworking foks but we also have a good share on dishonest ones too. I hate living in a big city but dh loves it but each time we drive to Logan, Ohio where our craft booth is it does seem to grow a little more on him. So someday. We did look at buying a house here in Hilliard, Ohio a couple years ago (suburban area of Columbus) but the house was 3 times as high as the one we have and needed extensive repairs to boot. I am thankful to have a job here though... it's clean, the police watch out for suspicious looking cars and people who look like they don't belong, etc. and there are no street beggars allowed!

Well, our sale is tomorrow + the weekend. wish us luck!!!
Mom & Dad have 30+ years of stuff to unload, plus whatever I lugged over there.
They used to do a bunch of entertaining, all there stuff is going. Hopefully all the good stuff will bring some $$. I can't stand when people offer such an absurd price for an item that is obviously expensive. She's got some real silver pieces marked cheap, I bet there will be at least one offer of $1 for it
Dad called tonight ,, first thing he said was "I'm never doing this again..."

GOOD LUCK on your sale!!!! Make lots of $$$$!!!!

Yes, there is always that person that makes ridiculously low offers--the one where you want to ask " what exactly is your problem?" Just look them square in their eyes and say NO.

Just keep smiling!!!

LJsmom - Good Luck with the sale! Watch out for all the scam artist/switch artist as I dislike them worse then the ones who want rock bottom prices. We had some that did the ole switch a roo at my Mom's moving sale many years ago.

We also live in a large city but I have to say the majority are honest people. We only have a carport and noone has taken any of the kids toys or things from it. But there is always that one bad apple that will spoil everything.

LJsmom-

Good luck with your sale today.. sure wish you were closer! I love going to older folks sales because they have more of the things I'm looking for. Older tupperware pieces, interesting cooking appliances that were before my time or things my mom had.

LJsmom-
hope all goes well for you and you will make a nice handfull of money and the price you are asking for...

OSI agree with you on going to yard sales that has olden stuff there. the old utensils I get if it is reasonable and it goes on my kitchen wall.

some people wants things for nothing... and the best answer is no... sometimes if I think I can come down but don't like the price they offer, I will come a little down.... but I have my bottom line number in my head..

If they don't like it... they can go else where.

let us know how you did on the yard sale.
make sure you drink plenty of water and don't over do yourself.

Thanks everyone !!!

Whew, today had about 10 people waiting 1 hr. before we opened...they were nice about it and the 80 y.o. neighbor was working crowd control
They sure do have some old dishes, appliaces, weird stuff I don't even remember them having.
Did snag a cast iron saute pan for me and c.i. muffin pan for my bro that were my grammas. OMG and the orig. tupperware, where did it come from???

Oh and get this---some lady bought stuff, put it in her car then came back ,picked up a $3 item and wanted to pay $1 for it because she was a "repeat customer". No way honey
1st, if she would've bought a TON of stuff, she can have the lilttle thing for free-but since she was rude about it my mom told her no way. Sorry but don't need her $ that bad. and we'd never seen her before, what, repeat of 1 min. ago...?

You guys bring me luck, got rid of my bookshelf and big drink cooler that looks like a pop can (you see them in grocery stores). Dh was not happy about me getting it the first time so should be really happy to know its officially gone. Now if I can sell all the baby stuff-life will be good again

tips for having a sale??

I'm going to have a yard sale in about a week and I'm looking for tips on ways to make it go well, and everyone stay safe...

I live in an apt complex, and there are three other appartments in it. So I'm not sure how to go about this exactly... (Should I let them know about it now, and ask if they'd like to join in? or just go ahead, and let it be a surprise??)

I also have to keep an eye on my three kids (all under the age of five) - although I've asked my mom to help me out with that... Any tips on how to keep them safe (not running in the traffic area, and so somebody don't walk off with them)?? I'm planning to use a front pack or sling for baby, but the other two are VERY mobile.

I know not to let anyone in to use the bathroom, and to take the phone out with me, just in case I need to use it.... oh yeah, and to have the cash (and change) on my person at all times... anything else I need to know???

Thanks in advance...
Row.
