His sister does love pictures so that is an idea but it would have to be something simple since I don't have a lot of time to put it together. A lot of their childhood pictures were lost in a house fire when they were young but I do have some of my husband that his aunt gave him that I don't think she has.

Just keep it simple a note book, titled on the front " Remember when..." He jots down his memories, a different page for each memory. Leave room for her version, literally write when he's done. "What was your recollection of how this went..."

If you don't have time or care for that idea you could always get a nice candle or something your state is known for. For us it's maple syrup, Cabot Cheese, Ben & Jerry's ice cream, Milton-Bradley board games, Vermont Teddy Bear. Must be your state has something it's known for.

Brenda, dh decided to put some of his pictures on a "thumb drive" that he can give to his sister so she can put them on her computer and be free to print them or share them with others through her e-mail or FB. Personally, I'd prefer a scrapbook/photo album but I think she will like this. Thanks for the suggestion.

That sounds great. I'm sure she'll love it. We are hosting our friends from CT this year. They should be arriving on Wednesday and heading home around Sunday. Gave me a great reason to deep clean my house.

I was trying to think what I was going to give them for a parting gift. I guess I came up with homemade dog treats. Last year when we went there for Thanksgiving I brought each of them a homemade gift since we wouldn't be seeing them for Christmas and they were hosting us. My daughter and I made homemade personalized pillowcases for the kids, an assortment of homemade stamped all occasion cards for her and homemade maple walnut bars for her hubby since she doesn't do sweets in their home and he always pigs out at ours on the sweets, for their dog I made homemade PB bones. Their dog loved them to the point he never steels from the counter but apparently those bones were worth it, because they were gone, no crumbs only a ripped up bag ~ too funny!

Wow, homemade dog treats? Sounds like you sure made their dog happy.

If I have time after work tomorrow I may bake something like banana bread or cookies to take along too.
