On being Friendly. . .

I have 3 close friends but one "bestest" friend.

Amy and I have been friends since we were five and bestest friends since forever. We have had some wild times together, wonderful adventures and have been there for each other through thick and thin. I cannot imagine life without her.

Linda is the first friend I made after getting married and moving to NH. She is a lot of fun to hang out with and has a ton of energy. she has had much tragedy in her life but still manages to come out on top. She is someone I can always count on.

Karen is actually a friend I met from online. We talked for over a year, had a lot in common, decided to meet and have been friends ever since. she is my movie buddy - we love to go to movies together and we talk on the phone several times a week. right now she is looking for a new place to live so I have been cat sitting her cat since Oct. She is another person I know I can always count on.

I guess I think friendship has to develope over time with those you share social, work or common interest with. I probably tend to get closer to those who I share the same interests, but mostly those I feel comfortable with. I have a lot of friends and they have many of the qualities mentioned in other posts--share common interest and values, sense of humor, understanding, fun, etc., but the one thing that most of us seem to agree on is a best friend is the one you can always count no matter what.
My best friend is my youngest sister, Holly. I have two sisters and I love them both, but Holly and I have always seemed to always get along. Our personalities are similar, we live close to each other, have children the same age and see and talk to each other almost everyday. I know there isn't anything I couldn't tell her and even if she doesn't always agree with me she is supportive and honest enough to tell me. I know I would be lost without her.

I too like the silly, fun loving friends. Donna and I would get along great.
I think a great friendship takes time. I wouldn't just blurt out some things to some people. A trust would have to be built up.

I think that a friend should be a person you can count on and be there to listen and to be able to keep secrets. and not go spread lies or gossip about other people or you. I have 4 very good friends that is like my soul mates and I realy love them as if thay were my sisters. thay have always been there when I needed to talk or just to say I love you. A friend should never pretend to be your friend just to see what you can give them without giving anything in return.

a friend is one that shares some things in common, you take the good and the bad, you are there for them no matter what it is, yet you show respect for one another.
You do not air thier private lifes uinless you have thier permission to share it.
A friend understands when you do not have the time to talk, or share each day, and can be one that if you not heard from them, you know they are still there when you do need them.
a friend is one that words may be be share but the actions shows they are friends as well as just words. We can sometimes say the right thing, but words can be cheap too, actions shows so much.
yet if action is not there, you don't throw the towel in and walk away saying they must not be a friend. For some friends shows more than others.
I also ask GOD to show me who I should get closer to,for He knows them better than I do and who is the right friend.
also we have friends that comes in for short time and others who stays around for a very long time.
I have one friend that I think of more as a sister than I do as afriend, we have known one another now for 21 yrs. We both know we are there for one another.
Then I have 3 very very close cyperfriends, that all I have to do is pick up the phone... and have done that many times with them. Others are in the making... and I have lots of f riends in the making that I cherish.
I believe there are different levels of friendship too, didn't believe that long time ago but I've learned this as I got older. LOL

Friends are a blessing from GOD.

Bar-Bar you are so right. I just got a call from my beloved friend Gloria we were back door neighbors from 69 to 87 when I remarried. She is still there and we are just as close today as we were back then. With kids/grands/greats we don't get to see each other that often. BUT we are always just a phone call away good or bad news. And this call was good news, she is to be a great Granny (MeMaw in her case) again somewhere near December. I even figured out which of her grands is making her a new G-G-Mom. Of course we talked about everything under the sun. I have been to all the weddings in her fam but one and that was in Tennessee. She has been to all of mine too. I know I can trust her with anything and it will stay with her.
I also have some very special cyber friends , one that I love every bit as much as I do Gloria. God bless all of you

I love all of my friends and I have a lote of cyber friends too thanks to F.C. I have so meny Sisters now that I am realy blessed.

Yes thanks to FC I have some sisters now that God did not bless me with biologically. For that I am grateful always wanted sisters. Love you all
