Best Friend Moved

I am a stay at home mom and when my kids were not in school, I was part of a mom's club. I made a very good friend and my son was good friends with her son. They jsut moved last year due to her husband's work and I am having a hard time making new frineds. Both of my kids are in school and so I kinda aged out of the mom's club. I do volunteer at school but now it is summer vacation. The people that go to my church tend to be older and most of the moms I know that stay at home have babies or toddlers. It has always been difficult for me to make new friends. I hoping that by suing these forums, I can make some new ones.

Hi Nancy and welcome! I'm sorry to hear that your good friend moved away. Sometimes it does feel like it was easier to make friends when we were kids, doesn't it! I hope you enjoy your time on our forum and that you find a way to widen your circle of "real life" friends as well.

Popping in to say "Hi", too.

I know just how hard it is to make friends once you move on from the friends that are so familiar to you.

Family Corner's forums are a wonderful way to meet new people. We have clubs that you can join, too! I have been here 5 yrs and have made so many priceless friends. We laugh and cry together, give support to each other, pray together, complain about our kids and husbands together.....you name it. You can always find one of us who have "been there and done that".

One of the best things about FC is that it doesn't cater to one age group. We have wonderful members here ranging from their 20's to their 80's.

Don't be shy! Jump in and join us! If you ever need help with anything, you can email me or any of the moderators. We will be happy to help you out!

BTW, Have you thought of searching Yahoo Groups or even looking at Craigslist in your area for women's groups around you? That is how I found the new Mommies group that I belong to. I've only met a couple of the Moms but their online website has offered a lot of info to me about the area and things to do. Just thinking that maybe you could find a group like that for you.

There are a lot of different things to do here as Tami and Barb have said...different clubs to join or just sit and chat...

Welcome Nancy...I moved away from my friends seventeen years ago. Still keep in touch over the phone like we still live next door.
I live in an adult community with no children so most are around my age. Have to put extra effort to get out there and socialize otherwise no one will come knocking at your door.
Some you just click with right off but others have a hidden quality that will add value to your life.
Just yesterday we were talking about a gal that no one liked but her husband still misses her and idolizes her memory. What a shame we never knew the otherside of her. The motto of this is make friends with everyone you meet they will introduce you to their friends too.
Been here since 2002.
Glad you joined our group on FC we love making new friends here right in our own homes.

Thanks for all the welcoming kind words. I know that it will take time and I do still keep in touch with my friend via phone calls and e-mails. It is nice to find someone or several people who can relate to what you are going through. Thanks again!

Hi Nancy, welcome to FC. This site has really been a lifeline for me. I just moved (because of my husband's job) from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. I had a wide circle of casual friends there (not any one best friend, but many women I'd see around town regularly) which had evolved over the 10 years we lived there.

It's been a real challenge for me in our new place because I'm not working outside the home yet, and have only met one neighbor. I'm hoping that will change in time, but it's been slow going.

Glad to see you here -- hope you'll try joining in any of the various threads that appeal to you.
