shocking

You guys are great! I'm hitting myself in the head not thinking of some of the ideas sooner! LoL I have to take my dog to be put to sleep soon( he's old and quality of life is poor now) and I know I'll mostlikely want another so I'm thinking of voluntering at the SPCA that way I can meet new people plus help with the animals till I find a new Puppy.Sandie yes I do collect some Boyds Bears, but mainly I'm into mohair bears and artist bears I like the ones that are unique and look like a child has played with it 100 years ago. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome,pm's and fantastic ideas. You guys are great!~Amy

I have had the same problem! There is no one our age even on our block! We found a great church that has monthly activities, maybe you can find a church that has couples groups? Our church has a kid's club called AWANA. I have found that it's a great place to meet other parents that live in our area! We always get together a few minutes before it's time to pick the kids up and just chit-chat for a while.
I thought the idea of volunteering was a great idea, too. If there is a place locally that is something that you already love to do, that would be a great place to volunteer and find other people with the same interrests. Good luck!

Welcome to family Corner, Sweetp2U and JustMeTammy!!!! You have already made a great first step for making friends, for you will find some wonderful women here on Family Corner!!
We Welcome You both!!!

I have moved a lot in my life so can relate to having to start over and make new friends. A lot of good suggestions were given here.
In addition, you might check if Gettysburg has a "Newcomer's Club." (Tammy, check the closest big city to you....)
Most medium to big cities have these sort of clubs!! Just call the local Chamber of Commerce or Welcome Wagon. I have joined these in the past and they usually offer all sort's of activities for new women to the community to get to know one another...card's...craft's.....book clubs.....meeting at various restuarants for lunch.....etc... Typically a Newcomer's club will meet as a whole once a month for a luncheon and some sort of speker and then the other seperate interest groups meet throughout the month.

Newcomer's Clubs and churches have always been the best places, in my experience, to meet friends!! But then there are also gyms, Barnes and Noble Book Clubs, scrapbook clubs (check your local arts and crafts store), bowling leagues..........community theatre and on and on!!

Next time you bake, bring a plate of goodies over to your elderly neighbor!! My dear neighbor, Dorothy is 85 years old and she loves to see me coming through her back gate with a piece of pie or cake!!

Give it some time but you will soon have a new group of friends!!
And come chat with us here at FC anytime!!!!

hugs,train
