Come on all you bear collectors out there. Please post messages here on this new thread so we can get to know each other and chat obout our collection of bears.

I'm Karen, from Indiana (date of birth November 15, 1956)

and my whole house is full of bears in every room. I have Ty bears, Boyds bears, handmade bears from the Teddy Bear Show that I love to attend in Indianapolis, Indiana June of every year. Also my friend from Canada made me a big bear and big bunny. She also made my parents some bears and dressed one up like Dale Earnhardt, (Nascar race car driver). It would be fun to have a bear group here so we can chat about our bears. As to how many bears we have, how we display them, maybe we have duplicate bears to trade with each other etc. This should be fun.

I have a wood beanie pole that holds 48 bears and doesn't take up much space at all (on the 4 sides of the pole has elastic stapled onto the wood to slide over the bear neck to display only about 5 feet tall or so.

Hi Karen...It is soo nice to meet you!! I am a bear collector also. Most of my bears are Boyds but I do also have some Ty and a few assorted others including a homemade bear given to me by a good friend. Last Christmas my son gave me a bear from build a bear with a leather jacket and shades...I love it!!

Since I live in Maryland I am fortunate enough to be able to visit Boyd's Bear Barn in PA once in awhile. Are you familiar with it? I look forward to chatting bears with you...

I love the idea of your beanie pole...

My most recent purchase is a Boyd's bear dressed up like a snowman...he's cute...

I love this thread!!!! Craftybear I posted on the chat thread you started yesterday,we have the same birth year,Im 9-23-56.
Ive been collecting bears for over 10 years, I collect mostly Boyds but I will adopt any one that needs a luving home, LOL. I have over 3,000 bears at the present time.I too, have them all over the house including both bathrooms, and my spare bedroom is now a "spare Bear room!!!I have quite a few Vermont teddy bears(we arent too far from the Vermont Teddy Bear factory),I have all seasons too, like alot of my bears (Xmas ones) are just about ready to come out and play,they have been stuffed away and arent very happy.I have so many Xmas bears I probably wont be able to put them all out this year.I also have all teddy bear dinnerware, canisters, even my shower caddy is a teddy bear!!Im lucky Dh doesnt mind, he actually buys bears all the time for me too.

I forgot to add in case anyone is interested Walmart has Boyds Bear (4 different kinds)Xmas cards on sale 18 cards for 4.88
and they are adorable!!!!I bought all 4 kinds.

Yippee I have members posting. I just love bears and wanted to meet other bear collectors. This will be so much fun!

I go to a teddy bear show every June and I get there when they open and stay all day. It is so much fun at Indianapolis, Indiana. The bear artists are from all over the USA and some other countries. They sure make nice bears. I was so disappointed this year that my favorite artist from Ohio was not there as I buy a bear or 2, or 3 from her every year. So I walked around and found some other cute ones.

I have a suggestion to get to know each other lets put our birthday including year when we sign our posts. I love to chat on yahoo messenger so if you want to chat with me, please send me private message so we can exchange information.

Hello my fellow bear lovers!! This is such a great idea!! I am in love with Boyds bears!! My Christmas ones are coming out this weekend to play and i cant wait to make them feel at home. There's just something about bears that make you feel all warm and cuddly!! I have about 100 along way from sandie... My grandma also has Boyds Bears thats how i got started collecting them. I buy my bears all over. Sometimes its a gift shop and that special one is just saying "please take me home", or if Im at a flea market and passing by a table and he will say "please adopt me",
I order thru QVC(Boyds Bears) and I order thru Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, if there is a bear somewhere and I know about it and he needs to be adopted, I will take him home,LOL
Im jealous Craftybear, Ive never been to one of the bear designer shows, that sounds like a lot of fun.Who is your favorite artist? I have a couple of Annette Funicello bears that are adorable. Im pretty partial to Boyds but ALL bears are cute in my book.

I just love collecting bears. When I go shopping, they always talk to me, take me home, plllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeease.

They are just so cute. Do you have any teddy bear shows in your areas?

I just walk my legs off sometimes trying to find the special bear. It is fun to make a list of a certain bear that I don't have and try to find it. I looked for a panda bear and finally found one.

I was just wondering besides stuffed bears what other bear things do you have???

I have nightshirts, coasters, wood bears, bear wall calendar, a friend of mine made me a plaque out of leather and is so cute "Crafty Bear" on it, crochet bear that is about 3 inches tall and sits on my computer.

I found a cute thimble one time with a bear, bear coffee mugs, cookie jar, renuzit with a bear, bear plastic bag holder.

Boyds bear wall calendar, will have to look for one for 2005!

I was just wondering what else I am missing that I have in bears, will have to take a walk around the house!!
