How-to: Posting a Picture on the Forums

We've been asked how to post a picture on the forums here at FC.

First, you need to make sure your picture is the proper size. We have a thread here on resizing images. There are a couple of ways to do that and that thread has good information.

The file-size limit for a JPG file is 175.8 KB. If you are using Paint, after you "save" your image, you can check the file size under the IMAGE menu. Just choose ATTRIBUTES and one of the items listed will be "size on disk." Again, you want less than 175.8 KB.

In the Reply window you see 2 rows of icons above the box where you type the text of your message. In the top row toward the right there is a little paper-clip icon. Click that and it will bring up a box for your picture "attachment." The top line in that box says "Upload a file from your computer." Click BROWSE and you can find the file wherever you saved it in your computer. When you have the one you want, click UPLOAD.

If the file is too big you will get a message telling you that. Just re-size again and SAVE IT in the new size, then try again.

The picture will not appear until you hit SUBMIT REPLY.

I have never had trouble before for posting photos, but tonight I tried to add to the photo gallery under neighbourhood pix, and it said that I didn't have permission to use the site. Any help?

make sure you are sign in, if not then you can't post.
there been times when I have had to try more than once.
so try again.

First try logging out. Clear all cache and cookies from your browser. Then log in again and try to post the pictures.

If you are still denied access, please post in our Tech Support Forum. Be detailed about what you are trying to do and the error message you receive.
