Question New Posts?

When I log in and look at the new posts number it could be as high as over 1,000 lets say. When I click into new posts, it is never more than about 180. Why can I not see all 1,000? Is there a way I can do that? I would love to see the ones I am missing.

The 1000 you are seeing may actually be posts total counted not "new Posts".

Cooked, are you saying that the display "new posts" has a different number after you click NEW POSTS?

Remember that there could be 10 new posts on a single thread, but that thread will only be listed once. So there could be 1000 new posts but only 150 threads with new posts IN them.

I always thought new post were listed only from the last time you visited the site. If you don't check them all out when you were on they would be lost unless someone replied after that time? Is this true?
Otherwise I go to the main family corner site and check out different headings to see if I missed anything that day without clicking new posts.
_Some websites let you read all the ones you have not read yet each time you come back.

Sueanne is correct. "New Posts" show anything new since your last visit.

Thanks for the info and the confirmation. I just thought it was odd that there was never anything more than 5 pages.

Most things require 75 posts to participate .. but how do you get that many? I hate to reply to forums dated 2006 .. and most that I read are outdated..is there a trick to knowing where the more current forums are?

Sshortcakes, I haven't had that problem with logging out every 10 minutes. I have left the site open all day with no problem. I wonder if it's your screen-saver settings or power settings?

As to why things require 75 posts, it's to make sure that someone is going to stick around and follow through with the commitment that those things require. You certainly can post on an "old" thread. Sometimes that will generate some new discussion on a topic. If you want to find what's been updated TODAY, click on the QUICK LINKS menu (at the top left) and choose TODAY'S POSTS.
