Time savers (life savers...)

This was an idea that came up when I was puting together a meal plan: there are a couple of simple steps one can make to simplify ones tasks... Like, for instance:

;-) - when you plan on making one dish meals, the kind you have to use a miriade of cuted, sliced, diced, etc, vegetables, you can take, lets say, sunday, to make it to ALL the veggies you are planing on using that week. I'm planning on using my sealer, and bagging it one portion in each bag, freezing it ( the ones I'm planning on using near the weekend, the rest will only need refrigeration ...)

Get back to the subject a little later on...

Better yet...

I had a bad idea on last post: sunday is deffinetly NOT a good day... you have to do it in the day when you purchase the veggies, and here the days you can buy them fresher, is tuesdays and/or thursdays...so I guess I'm going to take one of those days to do my shopping for the hole week (morning), and prepare the "time savers" in the afternoon ;-).

My sister has a strategy that I might add as a tip: most of the portuguese cuisine begins with choped onions and cloves of garlic sauté - we call it "refogado" - in olive oil. Then, we add tomato puree, or fresh tomatoes cuted in dices, and a bay leaf. From there you can cook almost everything. My sis makes a BIG quantity, and keeps it in the fridge, and pours it in to the pan when needed. Isn't that a time saver? Thats what this thread is all about, uh??

I guess this is a post to get me thinking... and I did it ANOTHER way !
Yesterday I went to do my monthly shopping, and I bought a hole bunch of fresh veggies - green pepers, carrots, green beans, tomatoes - for the hole month!... Now I'm gonna:

Cut the green pepers in pieces, and freeze them in one ziplock bag a portion. And I'm going to do the same with the carrots and the green beans. I'm also going to chopp some onions, and garlic gloves, and I'm going to boil, peel and take the seeds off the tomatoes. Everything will be freezed in one bag = one portion. I guess it will make things much easier when it comes to cooking time! Just open the bag, and toss it to the pan... voila!

I'm going to do it all in this afternoon - they delivered me the items this morning.

I guess this will save me a lot of time!

(and that is the general idea, duh!?!)

Lightbulb Bright idea! (...if I may say so...)

This is an idea I already post on other thread here in my organizing journal. Basically it means I am going to create sets of clothes for the hole week ( better yet, with all my clothes; you know the "mix up and deal" way). I'm even thinking about taking some polaroids of the sets, and post them in my control journal - that is something I'm working on and that is a MAJOR time saver... ). And this is how I'm going to stop thinking about it and actually doing it :
1st - I'm going to wash all the dirty clothes of mine;
2nd - I'm going to put them all together - after washing, course
3rd - I'm going to separate top's from bottoms. Then I'm getting all my shoes, bags and jewlery
4th - (by now, the hole house might be a mess , so probably I'll start screaming for help ) I'll start trying to assemble the items. Off course I know some of them, the ones I already wear, and those I'm going to write down, say, NOW, before I forget it
5th - and this one's a IF: if I take the polaroid shots, I'll put a white linen sheet over the couch, and I'll bring the small 3 steps lader near by. I'll put the clothes on the couch, along with the shoes and the jewlery, climb the stairs so I can take the picture from above, and...cheese!

And, then I'll glue them to a sheet of card, with any specific indications on it, and then I'll put it away, on the defrump devider. TA-DA!!!
