favorite winter boots

What are your favorite winter boots? I keep looking at the Uggs ....... but I have never tried any on. I hate to buy without trying some on.... Did anyone buy some new boots this year that you love?

Have you tried Keens?

I tried on a pair of Keen winter boots a few weeks ago and I am going to get a pair. They have good arch support and look kind of cool too. Less bulky than Uggs, I thought. ---Melanie

All of the talk around here is about Uggs. They would have to do a lot for me to pay that much $$$$ for a pair of them.

I've never heard of the other brand mentioned here.

Uggs are more slippers for us but if treated with a spray sealer they are more water proof and easier to clean.
I had side lace up ones years ago but now just have the pull on ones. In reality it's not cold enough to wear them for long as we have a short winter but I wouldn't be without them.

Apart from those I like with jeans for winter the lace up work boots, love them, they are comfortable to walk in, don't look to fancy but I love my redback boots.

Never owned a pair of heeled or long boots.

Connie, I shop a website called Zappos.com. I have especially wide feet and it's impossible for me to try on shoes in stores, because they don't have my size on the shelves, and ordering it for me takes days, and that still doesn't guarantee a good fit once they arrive. The great thing about zappos, is that they have free shipping both ways and a 365 day return policy. So you can wear the boots around the house for a while before you decide, you just have to keep them new-looking for them to be returned. You print a return mailing lable from your printer and drop them off at the post office. I have ordered several sizes/widths of the same shoe, and returned th ones that didn't work. Your credit card is credited as soon as they receive the shoes. That's how I ended up with with my new boots. Fitzwell Molasses/Wide Calf at Zappos.com ( BTW, the site has everything, not just shoes.)

Thanks! I will check into that. I have narrow feet. I have heard great things about Zappos.

Good subject Connie

My favorites are a pair of men's "Colombia" brand hiking books, I have had mine for about 6 years now and they are still holding up well. Of course, I don't wear them everyday but when it's snowing they are the best for keeping feet warm and sturdy so I don't slip on the ice and my feet don't get wet.
