Sammi, how fortunate that you have a winter & summer black dress..I need to find a new one, with a new style..then I need new shoes, some bling..oh the list goes on..ha ha ha

Kathy, how true about watching your coloring with your clothing...some colors I cannot wear near my face..like a bright orange, but a peach color is fine. Also, I do not like to wear chocolate brown pants & top..makes me look like a tootsie roll...ha ha ha

I used to wear alot of black, but now I am tired of it..I am going into more colors and patterns for a change.

Janet...Remember when women went to church wearing a hat. No one seems to wear them anymore. Wearing a beautiful hat made the outfit and the woman.

Janet, my black dresses are very plain. One is a short sleeved above the knee t-shirt style dress that looks great if you add a strand of pearls. The other is a longer version of the same dress only long sleeved. Both are a bit fitted so they don't look dumpy but are very plain so need "dressing up" with jewelry and a nice bag or jacket. I am not a fancy dresser by any means! I tend to go for comfort lol.

Sueanne, I do remember wearing a hat to church, along with white short dress gloves and you always carried a pretty hankie too.
Times have changed.

Sammi, I prefer simple lines too and accessories can dress it up or down as you already know. We must have the same tastes!

Kathy, Navy is a great substitue for black for you..some shades of navy or almost black..do they call it midnight navy? I also like a charcoal grey color too...it looks great in winter.

French navy is what we call really dark blue.
I like it in long pants (and my 1 woolly coat) as you can still wear black shoes and not really notice the difference unless close up but is softer, make sense?
I must also admit I like blue cause I'm vain, I know I have bright blue eyes and I know there are some shades that just set them off, good when you need to play the 'girly' card!
I have a pair of dark grey jeans but that's it on the grey dept for me.

I also have to watch reds, I need a pink or maroony red, not an orangey red that makes me look like a red grapefruit
NOT a good look on me!

Janet in the pics I've seen of you around, to coin and English phrase, 'you don't look half bad!'

Kathy, I tend to wear a lot of navy blue, french blue, black etc. but in the last year or so started adding some color like red, pink and even green. I never used to wear green, hated it, but now it has kind of grown on me.

I think french navy is a very elegant color and is a great color to wear when dressing up.

I think wearing blue to bring out the color of your eyes is a great idea and I bet looks fantastic. My eyes are dark brown - boring!

Sammi I bet you have gorgeous eyes, there are some lovely brown eye colours.
If I'm having a fat day and have to go out that is also when I do the eyes up.
Actually a chesnutty brown eyeliner (nicely smudged) is what makes my eyes look bluer in the day and a charcoal grey for night.
A friend of mine with brown eyes uses a green eyeshadow to make her eyes stand out ...................... we'll have to investigate
the colours to make eyes stand out.

Kathy, I wear eye shadow everyday...I have brown eyes and I wear alot of ginger, taupes, or greys..and a forest green.

Right now, I am using Lancomes, for my niece sent me some she got as a purchase incentive, and she doesn't use it..along with the current lipstick, blush..etc...

I am loving it!

Suggestions .....
Blue;
Classic Choices: Taupe, gray, violet, purple, deep blue (a darker shade than your eye color makes your eyes really blue), black (mix it with bright blue for a smoky effect)
Funky Favorites: Silver, turquoise, fuschia (brightens any shade of blue)

Brown;
Classic Choices: Copper, bronze, champagne (soft pink with a touch of apricot), brown, beige, and khaki-green
Funky Favorites: Tangerine, royal blue, hot pink, lime-green (the contrast adds punch to brown)

Green/Hazel;
Classic Choices: Brown, apricot, purple, plum, deep khaki or forest green (because they are in the same greenish family, they brighten green eyes)
Funky Favorites: Gold, lime-green, really light green, bright purple

Different colours for what you wear;
Classic Choices: Navy or charcoal base to define and a powder-blue shadow for highlighting (it brightens your brow bone)
Funky Favorites: Silver-sparkle shadow makes all eyes look edgy.

If you have wide hips, don't wear pleats. Pleated pants on wide hips stretch across the hip bones and flare unflatteringly.
