10/247/04-10/30/04 - I'm starting fresh today

Well, I'm ashamed to admit that's it's been a VERY long time since I have had a reason to post in my journal. But today is a new day. Today, my neighbor and I have decided to start working out together.

Our local parks and recreation departments have awesome rec centers available to us. And for only $12/mo we have full use of the fitness room, weights, machines, etc. So we are biting the bullet and starting today.

I am embarrassed to state my weight, but it's hovering right around 214. I'm still 19 pounds down from my highest weight, but I want to be at 165. I am 5' 9 1/2" tall, so that makes me about a size 16 right now. At 165, I would be a 13 and in Heaven! LOL

I don't want to be stick thin. I don't want to look like a 37 year old trying to look like a 20 year old. I just want to be comfortable with myself again.

So wish me luck, I'm heading out of here in about 25 minutes. I promise to keep up on this journal from now on.

Well I did it Yesterday I worked on the weight machines, though surprisingly i was not sore.

Today I walked on the treadmill for 35 minutes and did the bike for almots 15 minutes, so not too shabby! I stretched afterward, but I feel some stiffness in my shoulders coming on (grpan)

If I can just make it through these first two weeks!

Amanda

Good for you, getting out the door is 1/2 the battle!! I am about hte same height as you and when I first started to lose weight I was 190 pounds and wearing a 16 just about 18. I am now down to 155 pounds and into a 12/13. I am still not real thin but I have so much more confidence. I am continuing to work out through my martial arts classes. When i first started there were times I was so sore I could not even walk up the stairs but I did'nt give up. I'm glad you found a partner to go with that will help keep the motivation going.

Keep up the good work and it does get easier!!! Cheering you on!!!

Hugs
Debbie

Amanda,

LOL thats me "sneaky"!!!!

Too bad your partner quit on you.....it is always easier with someone else coming along and helping to motivate. I copied the weight watchers plan from someone and used that at home on my own to start losing the weight. After I had lost 25....took me about 10 to 12 months. I decided to start taking martial arts classes with my kids, i was sitting there watching anyways so why not?!? It has been 1 year soince I started and I dropped one whole size just from toning up.

Walking can be such a good exercise. Glad your daughter is going out with you. Are you following a certain food program to help??

this is me cheering you on "go amanda Go"

hugs
Debbie

Not following any food program YET. I figured I would start the exercise portion first and get going on that. I know from experience that once you start exercising and feeling better, the food adjustments come naturally after that. Feeling better physically makes you want to eat better.

I am picking up different things at the store here and there, like in the health section I have grabbed a couple of soy based chips. Not too bad!

My next step is to go in for a check up. I need to get a pap anyway so I figure I'll mention it while I'm there. I haven't made any kind of public announcement at all, but we are going to come off the birth control and see if we can increase our family size So this will be a good time to get in shape and get healthier anyway!

Wow that is great Amanda....I hope all goes well at the doctors appt. I always dread those appt's although after going for my physio for bladder control(electronic stimulization of pelvic muscles) my inhibitions have come down some.

That would make 5 children for you, what a blessing!!! I hope all goes well and it won't be long before you are thinking of names for a new addition to the family.

Keep up the walking keep me posted as to how it is going,I'll be here if you need some encouragement.

hugs
Debbie
