Well I think to cultivate his interest in doing homework is important. Try some tricks to make him feel funny doing homework. How? I am sure you could find out. Bless

Thanks for the words of encouragement. We are still struggling, but we will get through it.

Okay....I hate to give this advice, but this what worked with us. I paid my kids to get good grades. My oldest who is 17 is very self motivated. Straight A's. Now my daughter is very smart but does not like school. She was seeing how her brother earned money for good grades and was buying all this neat stuff. It was like a lightbulb went on and she figured out good grades = money. Now we did not pay huge amounts I believe we started when the kids were in 2nd and 4th grade. I think we paid $2 for A's and $1 for B's . Now that the big kids are in high school I don't pay money for electives or PE. My oldest likes to have a running tab and gets the money at the end of the school year.

Melly, I have offered that option, but it didn't help at the time. Now that Winter break is over, it seems that DS is coming around, or maybe he is wanting that $$ finally. We will see, PT Conferences are Tuesday.

Hi Bernice,
My daughter had same problem. I tried to make it more interesting for her. My friend suggested some study techniques. Now she does her home work regularly and feels reading and writing more interesting.

Well after PT Conferences we are up a slight minimal percentage. We are still struggling, but I think we are going to improve the next nine weeks.

It is, but yesterday was horrible. He wasn't prepared for anything. I think he was feeling like I was today, tired and you just don't care. I actually took a sick day today and came home.

We are taking one day at the time and trying to get things on track with him. Getting him to help himself is a hard task.

Is he turning his homework in? I ask this because my mil had the same problem with my bil. She would sit with him every night and make sure the work was done but he was still getting failing grades. She went to the school and talked to the principal and teachers and explained to them that she could not understand why he was getting failing grades when his homework was being done. They opened his locker and found all of the homework he hadn't turned in.

Joyza2003 to tell the truth, most days no. He doesn't have a good answer why, cause it is still in his notebook or book that he completed it in.

He has turned in the missing papers and has gotten half credit, this helps, but it isn't enough. I know it is not a learning problem, just being lazy.

He hasn't earned any extra things this week. I guess he will realize that no computer time and only one hour of tv makes a long weekend.
