Pass It Forward

What traditions have you passed on to your children or what do you hope to pass on to them?

One thing my dd and I have been doing for a number of years is recording her favourite recipes in a book that will be hers wherever she goes.

With our nieces we buy them a Christmas ornament every year. When they leave the house they will each have 18 plus ornaments! Allie is the oldest and has 13 so far.

Your question reminds me that I started a memory book for the nieces future children last year and, sort of forgot about it. I need to start writing in it again. I bought it from Hallmark. It's called "for my children's children" and is, basically, a book full of questions to answer to leave memories for your grandchildren. (grand-nieces, in our case.)

hugs, train

The only traditions that we really follow are making a BD cake for the person's BD. (not buying unless something special like an ice cream cake is really requested).

and the kids get new pjs on Christmas Eve, then we drink hot chocolate, read Christmas books and watch Christmas movies until it's time for them to go to bed. This year, Andy even printed out Twas the Night Before Christmas and asked me to read it to them before bed.

I would like to start more traditions like that with my kids.

I have also bought or made ornaments for all of my 3 children and even now they are all out of the house, I still give them, their spouces and my grandchildren; as well as my stepchildren(adults) ornaments every year at Christmas. I try to either personalize it with name/year or give each one a different ornament based upon the hobbies/crafts/sports they like or are "into" currently.
