The beach

Anyone else here live near the water? We are in Wisconsin, but we live in a lake town. In fact, the town we live in draws a lot of Illinois people all summer long. It's a great town for water skiing and relaxing lake life.

We are walking distance to the local public beach (this town is small, 5,000 population) so we went today for the first time this summer. The kids always have a lot of fun and it's a great way to kill a few hours!

We always take along these spongey toy things I made, got the idea from a book. They build sand castles, the beach also has a grassy area to sit in and picnic tables and bbq grills. I'm sure we will be there a lot this year.

I wish I lived near the water. The closest beach to me is about 30 (on a good day) and 45 to an hour away (on a busy day).

I envy you

We have lakes and rivers all around us and can go to one easily which is great. We like being down at the river sometimes. It is so nice and cool near and in the water. We like to go camping too and camp in a campground not with a lake swimming area in it. The kids and us like that too. It has a nice beach area for the kids too.

We do. We are on a canal and the beach is ten minutes away. Have lived near the beach since 1980 and wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Its lovely to look at!

Have a nice weekend, and Happy Mother's Day!

Happy face

We are about a half an hr away from the beach..maybe a little longer during peak traffic times. I love the beach & the waves are so relaxing. Once in a while we see dolphins swimming close by. They are so graceful!

Happy Mother's Day to all you ladies on FC.

Yes, I live on the coast line with beaches a 5 min walk from the house.
We have so many variations on that coastline, mangroves for the crabs etc, sandy beaches to swim and play in, barges and ferries come in for the local islands and canal estates all within a 15 minute drive in many directions.

I live at the Shore and in walking distance to 3 lakes, the bay is about 1/2 a mile and the ocean about 20 miles from my house. Everthing is crowded here in the Summer. The traffic is unbelievable. I don't spend much time at the beach because for me it's to crowded to enjoy. I do like to walk by the ocean and love to watch the boats in the bay. I love to go fishing and crabbing too. There are lots of fun things to do in the Summer and the grandkids are never board. When my kids were gowing up they lived at the beach all Summer. My son has been fishing since he was about 8 years old and he still loves it....

I'm a southern california gal and I can see the Pacific from the end of my street. I can walk to the ocean bluffs (about 3 miles from my home), or I can take a quick car ride and hit the beach!
