Parents or grandparents can surprise the child on the last day of school with a fun gift. I buy a large basket and fill it with things like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, beach toy, books, bug catches, seeds (KIDS LIKE TO GARDEN) with a gardening set, jump ropes, water blasters, balloons, sand toys, water paints, summer hat, beach towel and anything that has to do with the outdoors. Most things can be purchased at your local dollar store. The kids love this surprise on the last day of school for the great job they have done all year.

Gift certificates in small amts to different places for each kid will bring lots of joy, too. My kids love to go shopping to pick out their own things. Don't forget that some video stores off free videos for good grades - I know that Family Video does this in our city. Krispy Kreme offers up to 6 donuts for A's. Sign the kids up for library cards and the reading programs!! There are so many things that can be added to a basket like this!!
