I think everyone needs a course on proper etiquette on cell phone use, computer use, and so on. I have gone into the bathroom where a woman was chatting away in the stall!!! They act like I asked them to go kill someone when I asked them to turn their cell phone off. I've seen employees get mad because their bosses ask them to stop talking on their cells and get to work. I've seen people post pictures of themselves in ways they'd die if their parents saw them. Then, they are truly shocked when the photos are emailed all over.

I have been hearing on the news how easy it is for hackers to get into those sites also even if they are private.
The owners of those sites are trying to correct that problem.

I know that I have my facebook page set to "friends only can see." After school today I am going to sit down with my big kids and make sure they have those same settings.

I have my facebook set to friends and family only and I even have some on limited profile.....my sons is set up the same way.

There is a backdoor though photos though......if someone comments on your photo anyone on their list can see that photo and click on it and sometimes see the entire album.......The reason i know that is my friends young girl hd a photo she commented on on her page.....it was her using drugs......I clicked on the photo wondering if I could see more and I got the whole album.....I copiedthe photos and sent them to her mom who in turn sent them to the police......She had been trying to get through to this daughter and this was the final straw so to speak.....as said i don't think young people realise what they are doing whne they post these type of pictures......

Hugs debbie

Here is an article I found on MSN today about Twitter.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29796962...5829?GT1=40000

I do agree that security and safety should be a top priority when using new technology.
Good idea Barb, to talk to your big kids and make sure they understand how to use Facebook safely.
Deb, I had heard the same thing about photos on Facebook.
I guess it is always important to remember when you start putting things on the web for the public to see ---there are no guarantees who will be viewing it.

DebK, I realized the same thing about photos because I clicked on a photo of my nephew and got to see a whole family album.

I am very careful what pictures I put on facebook and my profile is very limited as well. I just helped dh today fix his profile and facebook page to be more private and my dks have already done that. I should probably remind them about the pictures, though.

It wasn't on Facebook but about a year ago a lady drove her young teenage daughter, about 14 or so, to where another teen girl lived so she could beat her up. This mother stood there and watched it and had someone video tape it and then put it on My Space. The other girl was a year or two younger. The police saw it on My Space and the mother was sent to jail.

How insane is that? I bet if it were vice versa that mum wouldn't be to happy. I sometimes think the parents are worse than the kids and what chance to the kids have if that is their role model?
