I have not done much of the extras on face book either. I generally just write a comment in reply to something my minister or whoever wrote. Lisa just made me her friend and I accepted. Thanks Lisa

Susiec you are so very right about the young people. And I don't know what you said but I do hope you scared her enough to think before she does things like that or give out too much personal info.
I see you are in Gloucester I live just across the water from Gloucester, Virginia and use to visit Gloucester, Massachusets years ago when my beloved inlaws were there. But have never been in your country. Bet it is pretty

susiec, posting risque photos can be so dangerous and young people just don't seem to realize that. Once a photo is out there it is out there forever and can be used by anyone. Also, employers and colleges often check facebook and myspace pages of prospective employees/students and if they don't like what they see it can influence the decision on whether someone is hired or accepted or not. Teens don't seem to realize that. Another thing is, if the teen is underage and putting risque pics out there and someone 18 or older gets them, they can be considered in possession of child pornography and can be arrested and later have to register as a sex offender for the rest of their lives. (I recently saw news stories about this). I hope your niece listens to you and stops posting photos.

I don't know how prospective employers and colleges can see any more than your limited profile unless you add them on to allow them to see more.

Susie, I sure hope your sister listened to you. My SIL posted her address and phone number when she first got IM and fortunately DH told her to remove the personal info before some weirdo found it.

DeBora, I am not sure how they can access private pages either but there have been several news stories on the major news networks talking about this.

From conversations I have had with people many do not have the privacy settings on so anyone and everyone can access their pages on Facebook etc. This may be through choice (stupidity in my mind) or the fact that they don't know they can set to private or don't know how to.

Susie, that would make sense. I wonder if mine is private. I think I set mine to only show a limited profile unless I have added you as a friend.

Did I tell everyone that I found my brother on Facebook yesterday? Nobody in the family ever knows where he is located. They never hear from him. I found him!!! I send him a request to add him as a friend. All will depend on a) if he ever checks his Facebook and b) if he is agreeable. He have never not gotten along, but I may be a reminder of his childhood too. But, I am excited that I found him and am hoping that we can stay in contact.

Glad you found your brother!

Here most people have open facebook pages. These kids do not think about what they are posting. I have seen pictures boyfriend girlfriend in bed, kids partying, pictures of themselves drunk..... with an open account, that is what colleges are seeing. Where are the parents???
