1) My kids and I like to have indoor picnics. We either watch movies or play boards games after eating our picnic.
2) When it's cold outside, we pop in our faux fireplace dvd, cuddle under some blankets, drink hot chocolate and take turns reading from a good book.
3) Since we don't get much snow around here but it does get cold, we all bundle up in our coats, hats and gloves and head out for a family walk. The chilly air feels so good after being stuck inside with dry heat. It also provides a great time for family talks.
4) My kids and I try out new dessert recipes. They jump at every chance to help me create stuff in the kitchen.
5) My kids and I color. We have a stack of coloring books and lots of crayons. We drag them all out and have a coloring fest.
6) We write emails to family and friends. We get a bunch of pictures together on the computer, then write letters to everyone and send the pics. to let them know what we have been up to. My son has been learning how to type on a keyboard and use the WORD program in his computer class this year so this is a great opportunity for him to practice. We usually do a summer grouping in the fall and then in January, we group a bunch of pics. from Halloween and Christmas to send to them.
I like to cook year round - but for some reason, baking (something I don't usually take the time to do) becomes a fun hobby. Then I like to bring the food to work and share with friends.
We like to go outside and build snowmen, have snow fights and make snow angels.Aslo we love to cook toghther especially if mom is making homemade cookies.
Watching a movie or playing games (it can be board games or computer games too.)
Aslo when i have free long distance on my cell phone they love to be able to talk with different relatives too.
This one is great because it has the potential of leaving them completely exhausted. You can adjust the course to the level of energy you want them to spend, and all with stuff you have lying around the house. Use pillows, chairs, tables, the couch, whatever! Tie string between table and chair legs and force them to crawl through, commando style. Kick it up a notch for the older kids and create a map leading them to clues and ultimately, to a worthy prize like a movie rental or outing of some kind.
