heelys

Had anybody noticed that many children had gone gaga about heelys and this of course including my son - heelys isn’t cheap? It scared me when he first used it because my son is already an accident waiting to happen and I bought him his own anyway. Now, I am having to think – what was I thinking.

They are the "hippest" thing around around here too.

My son would love to get a pair but I can't reason with the price of them.

Heelys are shoes like roller skate. The heelys are shoes but when someone kind of stand on the sole then it rolls like a rolling skate. You will see that some kids - in a mall - wearing a shoe and then start rolling using the heels of their shoes.

Yes! I've seen a kid wearing that here, in a mall. When I saw him I thought "that's sooo tacky!", but he seemed to have fun...

My daughter wants them too! We told her she needs to first learn to balance herself on the scooter then when she gets good at that we will see then! The school has made a rule that the kids can not use them in school!

Roller blades, skateboards and the likes are not allowed near shopping centres here for fear of accidents etc.
I was walking through the shop centre near here and there was a little kid about 6yrs that popped his wheels out and started skating around BUT it ended badly as he slipped (?) and went straight into an old lady who went flying.
Security can see when some one has a skate board, it's obvious but kids skate around and when they see security they pop them back in and they look like sneakers.
Neither of my kids asked so not an issue in this house.

I guess it's one of those appropriate time and place things.
