Both sides of my family doesn't gather 4 reunions any longer. I sure do miss that...

My AD's family has had a Family reunion most every year. I remember as a child we use to have them at local parks /beaches nearly every summer (unless it rained!). Then my family moved out of state and I never was invited again to one. In 2007 I was invited to a family reunion in mid August as it was (is) the Matriarch's birth month. I asked my A-A about why they had stopped for so long and she said that after the early 1980's it seemed the family would get together after funerals of family members, and so there wasn't a need for summer reunions, but now there are more "greats" children in the family again, there is reasons for getting together during the summer and seeing everyone on happier terms.
Maybe those of you who miss having the Family reunions need to be the ones to plan, invite, host the Family Reunions - this does not mean paying for everything, it means locating a suitable place that can house x-amount of members who would be willing to get together on a specific day and time. Ask everyone who has original photo albums, or can make in expensive copies to bring them to the gathering, and everyone local to the site can bring a dish or pay x-amount for catered / served meals, or ask a specialized service for estimates to host & plan a reunion party, ask family how much they would be able to afford between travel / lodging and services...then get a vote on what Month and day would work-out for everyone (or a majority who want a reunion).

I love reunions!

It means a lot of EATING for sure! (well,I love to eat ) It's not just about eating, Reunion is one of the events where we can reunite, and talk, share ideas/knowledge about something!

It makes you updated to each and everyone's lives,Reunions make the family closer and it makes the family bonding stronger!

That's what I love about Reunions well, aside from it is also sort of a party, with lots of foods and games!
