Thanks, Lee! I went on Monday and learned real quickly which machines hurt and which don't! I know my weight loss will be a bit slower since I am not up to my normal energy level yet, but that's OK. I am in the right mindset and that's half the battle! What is best is that I am not hurting anymore!!!!
At my doctor's request, I gave myself another two weeks.
I started Curves three weeks ago but found that a couple of the machines hurt my incision area.
So, I went back LAST week and did well with hardly any pain at all!
I go a bit slower on the machines then the other women there. I am, however, in the target heart range I am supposed to be in for strength training.
I am five days on the calorie sensitive eating plan out of the Curves book. It is low carb but not no carb. 1200 calories for two weeks and then 1600 calories. It's 6 mini meals a day which I like.
I will be weighed on Friday though it will only be for progress on two weeks rather than a whole month. Even if there is a tiny weight loss though, I will be happy.
I know I have to be more patient with myself. The last time I tried a diet and did not see immediate results, I quit!
Seem I do that a lot in life!!

Tami is also on the low carb thread and it turned out she and I joined Curves one day after the other and are both attending Mon, Wed., and Fri!!!

Good luck, Amanda! If you have not purchased the book, I would highly advise it. It just gives you a whole new appreciation for the man (YES, A MAN!!) who began Curves and why he started it. Plus, all the diet information is in there as well as lots on our metabolisms. As well, how to use the machines properly.
I hope the staff at your Curves is as friendly as the one here!! THAT seems to make a big difference from gym to gym.
I am starting a new job next week so will not be able to go anymore. I KNOW I am not going to feel like exercising at night after being on my feet most of the day. Running the activities at work WILL be my exercise!!!! LOL!!
I told my mom to think on it and maybe she would like to use the rest of my membership. I have 6 months left on my contract.

Donna, sorry to hear that you won't be able to continue going. I do hope that they will let your Mom take over. I had to pay in Pa. to break my contract....that stinks!
Amanda, How are you liking things so far? The book that Donna mentions is an interesting read. The Curves that I belonged to in Pa. had a small library of books that anyone could borrow and read. That's how I read it. If you don't want to buy it, maybe you could check out the library to see if they have it? You mentioned joining WW. Have you yet? You know that I'm right here cheering you on no matter what you decide on!!

I can't say that I LOVE it..... simply, I don't love to exercise. BUT, I'm doing it to help make a better "me"....and it's working!
I had enough "Curves Bucks" that I've earned to order a shirt. I also got a purple Curves key chain.
Have you seen the brown/leopard jackets and pants that they are selling? They are really cute! (but pricey to me).
Oh, I am NOT a morning person!! I was up late last night talking with my Mom so right now I would love to . But I wont!

Tami, while I really like your water tracking idea with the hair ties, i think I have found a system that works better for me. I use my Outlook calendar reminders for everything. So I plugged in a reminder at the top of every hour from 8 am through 3 pm. That's 8 hours. I have an 8 oz sized cup and whenever the reminder goes off I go upstairs and fill it up. So far so good, i am on cup # 8 right now! Any other water I drink today or tonight will be a bonus. ;-)
Forgot to say that I missed Curves on Friday last week because Dominic was home sick, but other than that I have been going M, W, and F. So I plan to keep that up.
Also, I meant to weigh myself, the last time I weighed was last Monday. I want to weight once a week and can't believe I forgot Monday and today. UGH!
