Children's Table At Wedding Rehearsal Dinner

MY SON MARRIED LAST APRIL. THERE WERE FOUR CHILDREN IN THE WEDDING AND AS I WAS PLANNING THE WEDDING REHEARSAL PLANS IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT CHILDREN NEED THEIR OWN TABLE INSTEAD OF BEING WITH THE ADULTS. MY SON'S REHEARSAL DINNER WAS ELEGANT AND THE CHILDREN'S TABLE WAS SET APPROPRIATELY.

I USED A WHITE LACE TABLECLOTH AND THE CENTERPIECE WAS SET ON BANDANAS (PINK & BLUE). ON TOP OF THE BANDANAS I PLACED AN ICE CREAM SUNDAE BOUQUET THAT WAS SET ON A 45RPM RECORD BOWL. EACH CHILD HAD A PAPER PLACE MAT THAT WAS INSCRIBED WITH THEIR NAME, THE DATE OF THE WEDDING, THE BRIDE AND GROOM'S NAME AND THERE WAS A LARGE AREA FOR THEM TO COLOR ON. I USED BANDANAS AS NAPKINS AND THEY WERE FOLDED IN THE SAME FASHION AS THE ADULT TABLES. I SCATTERED BUBBLE GUM AROUND THE CENTERPIECE OF THE TABLE AND IN THE RECORD BOWL THAT HELD THE ICE CREAM SUNDAE BOUQUET.

ON THE BACK OF EACH CHILD'S CHAIR WAS A PASTEL COLORED SAND BUCKET THAT WAS FILLED WITH ITEMS THAT COULD BE USED DURING THE REHEARSAL DINNER (TO KEEP THEM OCCUPIED!!). COLORING BOOKS, MARKERS, PENCILS, STENCILS, PAPER, CANDY, PUZZLES AND SMALL TOYS. THE SAND BUCKETS WERE TIED WITH SILK RIBBON TO MATCH THE COLORS ON THE ADULT TABLES. AT EACH PLACE SETTING OF THE CHILDREN WAS A BOX OF CRAYONS FOR THEM TO DRAW AND COLOR ON THE PLACE MATS. PLACE CARDS WERE MADE FOR THE CHILDREN TO MATCH THE ADULT PLACE CARDS.

THE CHILDREN'S TABLE WAS A SUCCESSFUL EFFORT AND THE CHILDREN LOVED IT AS WELL AS THE ADULTS.

THE DINNER WAS A BUFFET SO THE PARENTS OF THE CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO PREPARE THEIR CHILD'S PLATE AND TAKE IT TO THE TABLE. THE CHILDREN'S PARENTS WERE SEATED AT A NEARBY TABLE FOR CONVENIENCE OF DEALING WITH THEIR CHILD DURING THE COURSE OF THE REHEARSAL DINNER.

MY SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW WILL NOT FORGET THE UNIQUENESS OF THEIR REHEARSAL DINNER WHEN THEY THINK OF THE CHILDREN THAT WERE IN THEIR WEDDING.

What a Wonderful Idea

Thank you for the wonderful idea. I am getting married in the fall, and will have 7 children under the age of 6... not all in the wedding, but very much a part of our families. They will be made to feel very special at their own table, not only at the rehersal supper, but i may include it at the wedding dinner and reception as well. Thank you.
