I think alot of the kids don't know any other way to get attention. That's the way it is for them at home, so they are copying what they learn at home.

My feeling is there is way too much room for kids to slip thru the cracks. What I mean is hard to say. Where are all the teachers/aides when this is going on. There shouldn't be, but just a few minutes at a time that kids are outside of adults being aware of what they are doing. That is one of the reasons I started homeschooling this year.

There have been cases where a kid who was being bullied got hold of a gun and killed the kid who was the bully.

We have boot camp here in our state for problem kids. They live there, go to school and have chores. Since parents have to pay for this, not all problem kids get put there.
Something needs to be done for those who can't pay to help these kids.

What state is that? It sounds like a good idea. Those who can't pay ought to be able to work off the cost of it somehow.

There are several states with boot type camps. The problem is that many delinquent youths have parents who don't know where they are at and they don't care. These same parents would not spend thousands of dollars to send their child to a boot camp to help straighten them out.

I worked in a school for 30 years and never saw bullies getting away with it. Most teachers really like kids and do their best, not always easy with 30 or more kids in a class. Often the bullied kids won’t tell on the bullies. I know they are afraid but without proof what can you do. Parents are bad now about admitting their kids have a problem, it always is someone else fault. They can’t be bothered to parent their kids.

DeBora, you are right about the parents who don't care wouldn't pay thousands of dollars to send the kids to boot camp. If the kid gets picked up by police and a judge ordered them to be put there, the state would have to pay.
There are parents who do care but just don't have the money. These are the kids who are falling through the cracks and get in with the wrong crowds.

We tried and tried to get help for our oldest son. He was bullied, started bullying his siblings. He is bipolar and was out of control. Maybe he would be a decent adult if we could have gotten him some help. To this day he thinks he was a great kid, caused no problems. I corrected him on that!
