Easter Traditions

What are your favorite Easter traditions? Mine are dyeing eggs and the Easter egg hunt.

Actually, my favorite part of Easter is going to 7:00 am Mass and then enjoying spending the day with my family (DH, my children, and my parents, sister & nieces).

When all the grandchildren were small (all are teens or older now except for my 10 y.o. DS), I did enjoy watching my Dad hide the eggs and then the kids all run wildly to find the most....and try their hardest to find the Golden Egg.

We have our annual Easter egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter. My sisters, sisters in law & myself fill plastic eggs with candy & the kids go wild looking for them. There are 9 little ones that search & the 3 that live away, get some in the mail - don't want to leave them out. Then we go to Easter sunrise service at church. It starts at 7:00 & then the church provides breakfast for everyone at 8:00 & then Sunday School & Church at the regular times. I love the Easter service!!! Our choir will be singing a really nice song - We have been practicing it for a while. Then we have dinner with family - This year it's with my husbands family & we are going to the Country Club for an Easter brunch. I'm so looking forward to this weekend & to new beginnings - Spring!!!
God Bless.

At Easter, our family gets together to dye eggs of course. Each person uses a crayon to write another's name on a special egg and they dye it just for them. That egg is then left in the person's basket by the Easter bunny. Kids make their grandparents eggs, parents make them for their kids...in the end everyone has one extra special egg with their name on it.

I hide plastic eggs in our yard for an egg hunt. Last year I put cash in some of the eggs for prizes. After losing the $10 egg, I rethought that plan! LOL I'm putting numbered slips of paper in some of the eggs. The numbers will correspond to the prizes. We got candy and a few other items in addition to cash! This way the fun won't be over when someone finds the big bucks and we don't have to worry about losing money again!

Every Easter morning, the Easter bunny hides eggs all around the inside of the house. This way we can have the fun of an egg hunt without hurrying to get dressed.

Growing up, we always found a dollar bill underneath each of our baskets. Due to inflation, this may be a little more nowadays! LOL

Happy Easter!

Being in charge of our church youth group I spend a few hours on Sat with them for Easter breakfast set-up. Then @ 6:30am on Ester we are back at the church to start cooking for 8:15 serving. Then after church we have a Easter dinner @ our place with everyone contributing something to the meal, this year we are including family friends too! We have egg hunts for the kids & this year we are adding a treasure hunt for the kids too. Plus The following Tues is my DH birthday so we are celebrating his day too.

Well, I'm just now going back to my family's traditions now that I have a granddaughter. I baked Easter backets cupcakes topped with green coconut and jelly bean Easter Eggs.

On Saturday, we'll dyd Easter eggs and set them out for the Easter Bunny to hide. The next morning, we'll get up early to go to church. We'll find that the Easter Bunny has hidden the eggs. My granddaughter will go out to find them. She'll also find that he also hid a "special" basket of goodies. We'll go to church and come back home to either have a big lunch or dinner.

One of our favorite traditions is the easter bread. The cheese pie is also a favorite. Handing down the recipes to our children will keep the tradition going.

That's gorgeous, Sueanne! Have you posted the recipe to that bread anywhere?
