First Communion

I have a question that maybe someone could help with. My niece had her first communion this past sunday and I wanted to send her a monetary gift. I was just unsure about how much I should send. Should it be about the same amount that I would give her for her birthday or should it be more? I didn't know if there was a guideline that I could follow for this type of thing.

Thanks,
Jenn

I would think that the same amount of money you give her for her birthday would be fine.

Need some help here please.
My neice is having her communion May 1. As her Godmother do I have any responsability for her on this occasion? I'm not catholic and don't really know how things should be done.

My sil says no but I'm not really sure I can trust her. This is their only child so sil's sister and I are the Godmothers together. Its unspoken but widely known that her family does not like ours too much so I would not put it past her to leave me out of the planning or important info.

I'd like to get her something nice -even though she is a screaching RUDE RUDE brat who has no time for anyone but herself. She will not appreciate anything I get her and it will probably end up in a pile or under her bed.

Some have suggested a necklace or bracelet. The date is getting closer and I just have no idea.

I ended up getting a book of saints that describes all the different one on a level that a kid can understand. Also a pewter bookmark that says "Godchild you are loved". Got a hint that such a book is very helpful during religious ed.

My mom got her a necklace that has a soccer player on it with Jesus looking over her.
